Falmouth Stakes Betting Odds

The Falmouth Stakes takes place at Newmarket over the distance of one mile, with this being a Group 1 encounter for fillies and mares. It could be hard to find the winner, with a couple of Godolphin horses showing at the head of the betting market. Cinderella’s Dream and Desert Flower are among the favourites to win.

There are a maximum of twenty horses who will be lining up for this encounter. Crimson Advocate has won her previous two encounters, with Bedtime Story having been second last time out. January also runs for Aidan O’Brien and we might also see Whirl take her place in the field, with this being a potentially attractive each-way encounter.

2025 Falmouth Stakes Betting Tips

Cinderella’s Dream has been in the first two in her previous five races and has to stand a chance in the Falmouth Stakes. Sent off as the 5/4 favourite to win the Duke of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot, the charge finished second to Crimson Advocate. Previously to that, there had been a smart win at Newmarket at the beginning of May.

On that occasion, the horse won the Betfred Dahlia Stakes, with that coming after a disappointing showing at Meydan where the filly was beaten as a strong favourite. Perhaps her stablemate Desert Flower stands a better chance and the three-year-old has been a winning machine during a short career to date.

The horse could only finish third in the Epsom Oaks, although that came after a 1000 Guineas at Newmarket in early May. There was plenty to like about that success for the even money favourite on good to firm ground. There was also an October success at Newmarket where the 10/11 favourite landed a sizeable victory.

Crimson Advocate can’t be easily discounted and she has already landed that Royal Ascot victory recently. The four-year-old has now achieved back to back wins, having landed the spoils at Goodwood in early May. Bedtime Story also has claims and there was a second-placed finish at Chantilly for the charge last time out.

2024 Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes Tips

Porta Fortuna runs for Donnacha Aidan O'Brien in the Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes, with the three-year-old having the highest official rating in the field. At Royal Ascot, the filly showed an impressive turn of pace to land a victory against eight other runners in the Coronation Stakes over one mile, with a big prize being landed.

The same horse was able to run a big race when finishing second in the 1000 Guineas Stakes, with the runner beaten by outsider Elmalka. Last autumn, there were some smart performances including a second-placed finish in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf where the horse produced a strong effort to finish second.

Running Lion was also a winner at the Royal Ascot meeting when winning the Duke of Cambridge Stakes, with this being a two-length victory over the distance of one mile. That was in a Group 2 encounter, bouncing back after an underwhelming performance in the Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Epsom where the horse finished dead last.

A Lilac Rolla is a three-year-old who has secured plenty of wins, with the horse having finished second out of thirteen runners at the Curragh. The charge was runner-up in the Irish 1,000 Guineas, with that coming after a victory in the Priory Belle Stakes. There could also be more to come from Rogue Millennium who has run solidly twice this season.

2023 Falmouth Stakes Tips

Inspiral is likely to prove a popular bet although the four-year-old found one too good for him in the Queen Anne Stakes when being beaten by a rank outsider. Triple Time was the shock winner at odds of 33/1 although John Gosden still declared himself satisfied with the horse’s performance on that occasion even if the horse failed to deliver at Ascot last autumn.

Indeed, some punters might look for alternatives to the horse considering that Inspiral was sent off as the 11/10 favourite in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes only to finish well down the order, with Via Sistina bidding to land a consecutive hat-trick of wins. George Boughey saddles a runner who has scooped victories at Newmarket and the Curragh this year.

Sent off as the 5/2 favourite in the Howden Dahlia Stakes, the horse landed a six-length victory over one mile and one furlong. More recently, the runner was able to oblige in the Pretty Polly Stakes over one mile and two furlongs, with the charge seeing off the other fillies and mares in the race.

Ralph Beckett has the next two in the betting, with Remarquee and Prosperous Voyage running for the same stable. The former was second to Tahiyra in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot, with the 25/1 shot finishing just one length behind the 8/13 favourite over one mile and that was a big improvement on her previous showing in the 1000 Guineas.

Falmouth Stakes 2022 Tips

Inspiral has raced five times and claimed five victories. It’s therefore no surprise to find the runner trading at odds-on with the top horse racing betting sites when it comes to the Coral-Eclipse Stakes. There have been a succession of wins and the latest of these came at Royal Ascot on 17 June.

The horse was a more backable 15/8 when being sent off as favourite to win the Group 1 Coronation Stakes, with this filly able to land the honours despite being slowly away in this one mile encounter, with a victory of nearly five lengths being registered over second-placed Spendarella.

The victory came after a hiatus of several months, with the horse having signed off for last season with a win in the bet365 Fillies’ Mile in October. The runner was able to secure a winning margin of two-and-a-half lengths, with the horse having previously triumphed in the May Hill Stakes at Doncaster.

When it comes to the horse that can beat Inspiral, perhaps Homeless Songs is the runner that might attract the most each-way interest. Dermot Weld will feel as though his three-year-old can run Inspiral into the ground, with the horse having looked visually impressive when scoring a victory in the Irish 1,000 Guineas.

The runner was trading at backable odds for this clash, with Chris Hayes having given the filly a tremendous spin when obliging in the 1,000 Guineas Trial Stakes, with the runner now bidding to secure a third consecutive win.

Dreamloper is also bidding for a three-timer and Ed Walker is the trainer of a five-year-old who could be a good each-way horse racing bet. This horse is a Group 1 winner of the Prix d'Ispahan on 29 May, with the horse winning over one mile and one furlong, while there was previously a victory in the Betfair Exchange Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket.

The Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes is one of the leading races at the Newmarket July Festival, with this Group 1 encounter featuring a maximum of twenty fillies and mares who will do battle on the July track.

Hermosa is one of the favourites and the Aidan O’Brien filly is likely to be a warm order, although Laurens is on a par with her on the ratings and owner John Dance is hopeful that we’ll see the best of this horse later in the month.

The four-year-old had a strong start to her 2019 flat racing season when finishing second in the Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes where Laurens was narrowly beaten by Mustashry.

However, she was then sent off at 11/2 for the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot where Laurens found the field too hot to handle and could only muster sixth place in the opening race of the meeting.

The horse actually led that race with two furlongs left before being swallowed up by the field, with Laurens simply not maintaining the sort of pace required to keep up with winner Lord Glitters, while Beat The Bank and One Master were other horses that passed her in the final furlong.

Nevertheless, Dance is optimistic of a big run in the Falmouth Stakes and pointed out that his horse has an impressive track record at Newmarket which bodes well for this encounter.

"PJ McDonald is coming in later in the week to do a bit of work with Laurens and it's all systems go for the Falmouth," Dance said in comments to the Racing Post.

"It will be her first time on the July course but we have happy memories of Newmarket as she has won two Group 1s and finished second in the Guineas on the Rowley Mile."

Indeed, Laurens won a Group 1 race at Newmarket last October when winning the Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes, while it was only shock winner Billesdon Brook who was too good for the horse in the 2018 renewal of the 1000 Guineas.

"I was a bit disappointed as she looked like she was travelling all over them, only to weaken fairly meekly in the last furlong and a half," Dance said when asked about her performance in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.

"It might be Ascot just doesn't suit her and her prominent style of racing. She's a big, long-striding filly and it's possible those last two furlongs don't bring out the best in her."

Dance added: "She's not run a bad race and I could never be disappointed with her after what she's achieved.

"It's probably the first time we've been a bit more selfish about things but going to Royal Ascot with a chance like that was a once in a lifetime opportunity."

Hermosa will be bidding for a third victory of the season and the three-year-old has done little wrong in 2019, winning two races at Newmarket and The Curragh respectively before attending Royal Ascot.

The Irish raider lined up in the Coronation Stakes and was sent off as even money favourite, with Hermosa drawing level with the front-running Watch Me with two furlongs remaining only to be outpaced in the final run-in.

Hermosa and Laurens could be involved in an exciting tussle at the end of the race, while I Can Fly, Rawdaa and One Master are also horses that need to be watched.

One Master is a William Haggas-trained horse who was third in the Queen Anne Stakes and the fact that she had the beating of Laurens at Royal Ascot means that we should consider her if she’s trading at a larger price.
