The 2025 July Festival takes place between Thursday 10 July and Saturday 12 July. That means three days of high quality racing at Newmarket Racecourse, with the July Cup taking pride of place. However, there are lots of other exciting encounters. They include the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes and Falmouth Stakes on Day Two of the Festival.

2025 The July Festival Betting Odds

There are a sum total of twenty-one races comprising The July Festival. That means seven encounters across three days of horse racing at Newmarket. The action starts at 1.50pm each day and the action comes thick and fast. You can study the form and compare the best odds to ensure you get the value each time.

Day One – Ladies Day

The Sir Henry Cecil Stakes is one of several prominent encounters on Ladies Day at Newmarket. This is a one-mile encounter where three-year-olds battle it out and the 2024 renewal was won by Al Musmak. There was also a notable winner in 2021 when Baeed was successful as part of a glittering career, with Mighty Ulysses and Nostrum other winners.

It's the Bahrain Trophy which kicks off the July Festival, with this being a Group 3 encounter over one mile and five furlongs. There’s always a big prize pot on the table and we’ve seen Deauville Legend, Castle Way and Ancient Wisdom among the recent winners. There’s also the Princess of Wales’s Stakes on the opening day and it’s been Yibir, Israr and Giavellotto who have triumphed in the past few years.

Day Two – Festival Friday

There are two particularly prominent races on the middle day of the July Festival. This includes the Falmouth Stakes which has Group 1 status. It's an encounter over one mile and it’s one of the most historic races at Newmarket, having been inaugurated since 1911. Porta Fortuna was the winner twelve months ago, with Nashwa and Prosperous Voyage the recent champions.

There’s also a Group 2 encounter in the form of the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes, with this race first being run in 1947. There are some talented two-year-old fillies who will take to the July Course in a quest for glory. Mawj was a lively winner in 2022 for trainer Saeed bin Suroor, with Persian Dreamer and Arabian Dusk also having won the race recently.

Day Three – July Cup Day

The July Cup is the blue riband race of this three-day festival and there are already betting odds for this Group 1 race. Run over six furlongs, there’s over £300,000 in prize money for winning connections when it comes to the 2025 renewal. A clutch of horses are trading at around the 8/1 mark, with Babouche having been a winner last time out.

Inisherin is a talented four-year-old who was also successful in the most previous encounter. Kevin Ryan saddles a horse that could be a good each-way option, especially if you’re able to get extra places. Trainer Charlie Appleby also has a couple of lively contenders. Shadow Of Light was third in a recent outing, although Symbol Of Honour has a better strike rate and might be the best option.

There’s also the Superlative Stakes and Bunbury Cup that are appealing on the Day Three racecard. The former is a Group 2 contest over seven furlongs and we’ve seen some notable winners of the encounter. Isaac Shelby was victorious in 2022 before City Of Troy scored twelve months later. Ancient Truth won for Charlie Appleby most recently.
