The Fitzdares Fleur De Lys Chase looks like a quality betting race and the majority of the field stand a chance of landing a victory. This includes Protektorat who is set to go off as favourite and the ten-year-old was able to finish second in his previous outing. That was at Huntingdon although the star performance came when winning the Ryanair Chase back in March.

Djelo managed to beat Protektorat last time out and may be capable of repeating this feat, with the seven-year-old also having time on his side. We’re surprised that the horse is trading at a bigger price than the favourite considering that there was six lengths separating the pair when they previously met in early December.

Pic D’Orhy is a ten-year-old with bags of ability, with Paul Nicholls seeing his horse win at Ascot back in November when winning the 1965 Chase and that came after wind surgery in July. The horse was pulled up at Aintree back in April although there was a success in the Betfair Ascot Chase last February when winning by five and a half lengths.

Ahoy Senor is another ten-year-old who has had a successful career, with Lucinda Russell training a horse that was pulled up at Haydock Park in November. This came after finishing third at Aintree in October, with the horse looking to return to the winners’ enclosure for the first time since January 2023.

L’Homme Presse is the odds-on favourite to win the Fleur De Lys Chase, with the horse making a long-awaited return to the track at Lingfield Park on Sunday. The nine-year-old has not been seen at a racecourse since the 2022 festive season when he unseated his rider in the King George VI Chase at Kempton Park, although the bookies still respect his chances.

Let’s not forget that the horse won the Brown Advisory Novices' Chase at the 2022 Cheltenham Festival, although there’s clearly a question mark when it comes to returning after a long lay-off, with others worthy of consideration. This includes Protektorat who is bidding to win his first race in five attempts.

The Dan Skelton-trained runner certainly merits respect, with the nine-year-old having run into third place in his latest outing. At Cheltenham in mid-December, the horse was able to finish just three lengths in the Daily Handicap Chase behind eventual winner Broadway Boy, with this being a respectable effort based on betting odds of 16/1.

Previously to this, the horse was dead last out of four runners in the Betfair Chase at Haydock, with some customers preferring the chances of Fugitif who ran very well on a recent showing. The runner scored a success when edging Il Ridoto over two miles, four and a half furlongs, with Limerick Lace worth a second look for trainer Gavin Cromwell.
