Paddy Power Steeplechase Betting Odds

We've got a big field lining up at Leopardstown Racecourse in the form of the Paddy Power Chase, with the runners and riders competing over three miles, half a furlong. Weveallbeencaught is a good starting point and the horse is knocking on the door in the past few races, although this very much looks like an each-way betting race.

Ballysax Hank has had a first, second and third this term, with Gavin Cromwell's six-year-old potentially favourably weighted. Captain Cody will be handicapped the most in this encounter although the Willie Mullins-trained charge is still regarded as a leading contender. Midnight Our Fred and Waterford Whispers are other contenders.

2025 Paddy Power Chase Betting Tips

The Paddy Power Chase is likely to feature a big field and it's a difficult race to predict the outcome. It's a fiendish distance of over three miles, with this being an extended handicap encounter and Weveallbeencaught is the marginal favourite. The eight-year-old might be well weighted, with the latest effort being a runner-up outing at Limerick.

Ballysax Hank has run three times this season and the six-year-old was able to finish second at Far Hills in October when running well in the American Grand National Hurdle Stakes. That was over two miles and five furlongs, with that coming after an early September success at Gowran Park over one mile and six furlongs.

Captain Cody could be the best Willie Mullins-trained runner in the field, with the seven-year-old having finished third on a seasonal debut. It was a reasonable effort in a small field at Fairyhouse, with that effort coming in the Drinmore Novice Chase. It was no disgrace to follow home odds-on favourite Romeo Coolio and Gold Dancer over two miles and four furlongs.

Midnight Our Fred was second on a seasonal bow and the eight-year-old might not be far away in this festive encounter. JP Flavin saddles a horse that finished second at Cork last time out when running well in a three-mile handicap hurdle. That came after being pulled up in the Kim Muir Challenge Cup at the Cheltenham Festival.

Limerick Lace was sent off as the 4/1 favourite in the Bar One Racing Troytown Handicap Chase and acquitted himself well over three miles on soft to heavy ground. Although Coko Beach edged out this runner, trainer Gavin Cromwell will hope that the runner is able to jump with more fluency in order to land a victory in this encounter.

There are lots of lively competitors including Amirite who was fourth last time out and the Henry de Bromhead-trained runner could be favourably weighted, with the horse one of the few that was able to finish at Cheltenham Racecourse at the end of October. If it hadn’t been for the horse’s saddle slipping, we might have seen a closer finish.

Desertmore House has won three of four encounters in the second half of 2023, with the horse obliging at betting odds of 11/1 in the Guinness Kerry National Handicap at Listowel. It was a relatively comfortable win by nearly four lengths, with a previous victory coming at Kilbeggan, with trainer Martin Brassil confident the horse can hit the frame.

Meetingofthewaters is a talented six-year-old that goes for Willie Mullins, with the horse recently sent off at even money in a Cork encounter over two miles and five furlongs. It ended up being a relatively comfortable victory by five and a half lengths, with the horse improving with every performance after some decent showings at Galway.

Ain’t That A Shame ran a tremendous race at Limerick on 22 October, with Henry de Bromhead seeing the 5/1 favourite finish a narrow second to The Big Dog. While the latter looks set to line up in the Welsh Grand National, the former might have won this encounter but for a jumping mistake towards the end of the race. However, three miles on soft ground is a pretty solid achievement.

Donkey Years also ran in the JT McNamara Ladbrokes Munster National Handicap Chase and finished in third place, with the eight year old featuring prominently in the betting. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the pair in the frame once again, although Panda Boy merits plenty of respect based on previous showings.

Martin Brassil will feel confident that his charge can produce an improvement on his showings this season, with the horse well down the finishing order at Punchestown on his latest appearance, although there was a success in the Ladbrokes Beginners Chase towards the end of last term.

Frontal Assault is a talented seven-year-old who runs for Gigginstown, with Jack Kennedy riding the Gordon Elliott-trained runner to a victory in the Mongey Communications Chase, with the horse then running at Navan and finishing a fairly respectable fifth although he did disappoint backers who had got on board the 3/1 favourite.

Paddy Power Steeplechase betting odds

Some of the leading chasers from the big Irish horse racing yards will have contenders lining up to compete for a share of the spoils, with this taking place over a distance of three miles and this is likely to be on soft or even heavy ground.

Ontheropes Among Favourites to Win Paddy Power Steeplechase

Willie Mullins will have lots of lively contenders to win the Paddy Power Steeplechase and perhaps Ontheropes is the main one, with the six-year-old running a gallant race when finishing second behind Monkfish in the Jim Ryan Racecourse Services Beginners Chase on 28 November 2020.

The fact that the Mullins runner was a 16/1 chance finishing runner-up against a massive odds-on shot means that we need to treat his chances seriously for this encounter, with the horse actually needing a run considering that his last appearance was being pulled up at Navan in March.

Who Are the Other Big Betting Favourites to Win PP Steeplechase?

Mullins has some other leading horses and Castlebawn West could be a runner that finished up in the each-way betting places, with the runner finishing third in the Alanna Homes Handicap Chase and that was a solid showing over two miles and three furlongs.

Class Conti is among the more difficult horses to predict and the eight-year-old hasn’t had a run in the past twelve months, although there are several horses that could also have a say in this race.

Daly Tiger has a 1 next to his name after the Noel Meade runner returned to the track to recently win at Punchestown on 14 November, with the horse triumphing by over four lengths and this could be many people’s idea of a strong each-way bet.

Meade also has a lively contender in the form of Brace Yourself and this horse has plenty of runs under his belt, with four finishes already during the 2020/21 National Hunt season, with the seven-year-old looking to be in strong form.

Brace Yourself won at Gowran Park back in October and recently ran into second place over three miles and five furlongs at Punchestown Racecourse, with this being a lively each-way contender.

2025 Paddy Power Chase Betting Tips

Despite an unconvincing couple of displays this term, Backtonormal could go off as favourite to win the Paddy Power Chase. Gavin Cromwell will have a few horses against the field and this runner was able to triumph at the Dublin Racing Festival when scoring in the Grade Three Leopardstown Handicap Chase. There have been more recent struggles at Naas and Navan.

Down Memory Lane was in the winners' enclosure last time out, with the runner obliging for Gordon Elliott in early December in Navan. That came in the Foxrock Handicap Chase over two miles, four and a half furlongs, with a solid effort on soft to heavy ground. That was a bounce back after being somewhat disappointing at Galway in July.

There's another seven-year-old with solid claims in the form of Waterford Whispers. A fourth, third and sixth-placed finish have all occurred for Henry De Bromhead, with the latest run coming at Punchestown at the end of November. That came after a third-placed effort over two miles and two furlongs at Galway in October.

Backmersackme is a younger adversary that can go well for trainer Emmet Mullins, with the horse likely to be one of the bottom weights, while Ballysax Hank hasn't been out of the first three this season. That might lead punters to consider the horse from an each-way point-of-view, with Sa Majeste trading at a similar price.
