Cleeve Hurdle Betting Odds

The bookies make the Cleeve Hurdle a wide open encounter on Saturday, with Paisley Park lining up at the ripe old age of twelve. Despite being the oldest horse in the race, this could be the one to beat and the Emma Lavelle-trained runner has delivered some encouraging performances this term, with Dashel Drasher available at a similar price.

The Jeremy Scott-trained runner has finished third on two occasions and also been in the winners’ enclosure once this season, while Noble Yeats is a former Aintree Grand National winner who will now look to demonstrate some class over the smaller obstacles. Champ is also trading at single figure odds and was fourth in his only outing this term.

2024 Cleeve Hurdle Tips

Paisley Park has been second on both outings this season and will now look to go one better in the Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham this weekend. There was a second-placed finish at Newbury in the Coral Long Distance Hurdle at the beginning of December and then the same outcome happened in the Howden Long Walk Hurdle a few weeks later.

We know that Paisley Park has the ability to win the race and produce a strong finish up the hill, although he was defeated by Dashel Drasher at Newbury, with the latter now looking to follow up that victory with another triumph. The eleven-year-old did finish behind Paisley Park when the pair last ran at Ascot although the price suggests a lively chance here.

Noble Yeats is a talented nine-year-old who has previously been victorious in the Aintree Grand National and has now been set over hurdles. He was beaten over two miles and four furlongs on heavy ground at Limerick in December, although we know that the horse has bags of stamina and perhaps this is when it all clicks into gear.

Champ finished fourth in his only appearance this year, with that being in the Howden Long Walk Hurdle, although the Nicky Henderson-trained ten-year-old is an experienced campaigner who is fourth favourite in the betting. Botox Has has also won this season, with Gary Moore training this runner and we’re looking forward to a hot race.

2023 Cleeve Hurdle Betting Tips

Paisley Park continues to line up and win in esteemed company, with the eleven-year-old going off as the short-priced favourite to win the 2023 Cleeve Hurdle. The horse put together a solid performance in the Long Walk Hurdle at Kempton Park on Boxing Day, with the horse obliging at 9/2 and it was a typically strong run where the runner came from a long way back to land the spoils.

Beating Goshen and Champ was no mean feat and there’s a strong case for backing Paisley Park to record a win, with Dashel Drasher having strung together some good performances this season. The Jeremy Scott-trained runner was able to run impressively in the Relkeel Hurdle when finishing second behind Marie’s Rock and might benefit from a longer trip.

Gelino Bello was enjoying a consecutive run of four victories before falling last time out at Kempton Park on Boxing Day. The seven-year-old appeared to be travelling well in the Kauto Star Novices’ Chase although connections have decided to revert to hurdling and it’s hardly a surprise considering the horse was looking smart when it came to that department.

The horse won the Sefton Novices’ Hurdle and Paul Nicholls will hope that the runner can rediscover a similar level at Cheltenham. Like Paisley Park, Botox Has goes off the top weight and was fairly underwhelming when finishing seventh in the Relkeel Hurdle. However, Gary Moore’s runner previously scooped a victory in the Betfair Exchange Stayers' Handicap Hurdle.
