Subjectivist has been able to score a number of victories over the past couple of years, with Mark Johnston having a hot runner for the Red Sea Turf Handicap. There is plenty to recommend this horse but a slight concern that the last time that the charge actually ran was at Royal Ascot in June 2021 and perhaps other horses can be considered.

Trawlerman is trained by John Gosden and there could be some merit in siding with the five-year-old from an each-way perspective, with Silver Sonic representing Japan and probably standing the best possible chance out of any of the runners from this country. However, Echt is another Japanese runner that is among the favourites.

2023 Red Sea Turf Handicap Betting Tips

Subjectivist scored at Royal Ascot in the summer of 2021, with the horse landing the Gold Cup and there has now been a long lay-off since that victory. The six-year-old was a five-length winner in that encounter eighteen months ago, although it’s hard to judge how well the horse will perform and returning to a track in Dubai is going to make things interesting.

Previously to that Gold Cup win, there was a win in the Dubai Gold Cup at Meydan, with the horse triumphing over two miles and that was also a convincing victory by nearly six lengths. There was also a victory in the Prix Royal-Oak and a Group 1 success at Longchamp over nearly two miles on heavy ground on 25 October 2020.

Trawlerman has run a good deal more recently and the five-year-old completely outran his odds at 20/1 when finishing third in the British Champions Long Distance Cup. There was a victory at odds of 11/8 for favourite Trueshan in that race, although the Gosden-trained runner produced a solid performance and there was also a victory in the Sky Bet Ebor Handicap at York.

Silver Sonic is the other horse to consider and the seven-year-old has plenty of experience, with Yasutoshi Ikee expecting his runner to stay the course, with a victory coming at Nakayama in the Sports Nippon Sho Stayers Stakes. That was over two miles and two furlongs, so stamina might not be an issue for this runner who could end up being a popular punt.
