Rehearsal Handicap Chase Betting Odds

The BetMGM Rehearsal Handicap Chase is the final race on Saturday’s Newcastle racecard, with the race set to go off at 3.15pm. The going is soft at the Tyneside track, with Deafening Silence returning to the track after some smart performances last term. The eight-year-old is marginally ahead of Cruz Control in the betting market for this race.

Tom Lacey’s eight-year-old was able to win 250 days ago and now comes back to try and make his mark in this November clash, with Konfusion having opened the campaign with a victory but didn’t make it round in the last race. Docpickedme is the oldest horse in the race and Jasmin De Grugy is another solid each-way option for the race.

2025 Rehearsal Handicap Chase Betting Tips

There’s a long distance encounter at Newcastle Racecourse on Saturday, with the sun setting by the time that the BetMGM Rehearsal Handicap Chase takes place. Deafening Silence was last seen finishing midfield at Uttoxeter back in March after the horse was previously able to score at Warwick when beating two other opponents.

Cruz Control was an impressive winner in his final run of the previous campaign. Sent off at odds of 10/1, the horse was able to score in the William Hill Handicap Chase at Aintree and that April success was enjoyed by five lengths. Over three miles and a furlong, it was a bold showing and came after being pulled up at Wetherby last Boxing Day.

Konfusion goes for Joel Parkinson and Sue Smith, with the runner having recently unseated his rider at Haydock. Sent off as the 9/4 favourite, the horse stumbled when travelling well and that came after an early November success at Wetherby. On that occasion, a four-length victory was achieved and it’s clear that the distance won’t be a problem.

Jasmin De Grugy is an interesting contender. Anthony Honeyball trains a six-year-old who was able to collect straight wins at Ffos Las, Southwell and Newbury. More recently, there was a sterling performance at Punchestown in early May at odds of 7/2. The horse was runner-up behind Bill Baxter in the Pat Taaffe Chase over three miles.

The Changing Man fell at Wincanton earlier this month when travelling well, although perhaps the horse will manage to stay on his feet this time around. The previous performance was a second-placed position at Uttoxeter where the favourite was edged out over three miles on heavy ground.

Bowtogreatness is a horse that can’t be ruled out easily, especially after a smart performance from the eight-year-old in his previous outing. There was plenty to like about a success at Newbury over nearly three miles, with the horse really impressive considering that he made the going and put in a clean round of jumping.

Donny Boy was second out of five runners at Ayr in his previous outing, with this coming after a solid third place in the Champion Handicap Chase at Ayr. The horse is likely to go well over this distance at Newcastle, although it’s a long time since we have seen this runner achieve a victory in any race.

Marble Sands was able to land the spoils at Carlisle in his previous outing, with the eight-year-old fending off three other rivals. However, that came after underwhelming performances on the all-weather at Kempton and Southwell. Neon Moon could be a livelier runner and the horse finished third in the Gold Cup Handicap Chase at Ascot.

2023 Rehearsal Handicap Chase Tips

Shishkin is favourite for the BetMGM Rehearsal Handicap Chase although there will be an element of doubt regarding this runner. After all, the nine-year-old recently refused to race when sent off as the 8/13 favourite in the Nirvana Spa 1965 Chase, with this coming after a previously successful campaign which included a victory at Aintree Racecourse.

Shishkin was able to score as the 7/4 favourite in the Aintree Bowl Chase after beating Ahoy Senor, with this coming after the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham where the horse was beaten into second as the even money favourite. It’s possible that opposing the market leader is the way forward and Market Steel is a viable alternative.

The nine-year-old is trained by Sandy Thomson and finished third out of six runners in the Edinburgh Gin Chase when being sent off as the 9/4 favourite. Interestingly, Elvis Mail was able to score a victory on that occasion and it will be interesting to see whether this nine-year-old can cope with the weight increase that accompanies the win.

Easy As That was sixth last time out and the horse was last seen performing fairly well out of fourteen runners, with Bill Baxter making a bright appearance for trainer Warren Greatrex, with the 20/1 shot claiming a surprising victory in the Topham Handicap Chase. Perhaps the horse needed a recent outing at Carlisle and it will be interesting to see what happens.
