AW Marathon Championships Betting Odds

The vast majority of the field lining up for the All-Weather Championships Marathon Handicap could end up landing a victory at Newcastle Racecourse. This includes Roaring Legend who might have the best chance of all, with the five year old enjoying a winning streak right now. However, Wonder Legend could also end up having claims.

James Ferguson’s charge could go really well on the basis of some recent performances, while Plage De Havre also has solid credentials and hasn’t been out of the first two this term. Duke Of Oxford has been away from the track for a longer period of time and the five-year-old could be worth considering from an each-way point-of-view.

2025 All-Weather Championships Marathon Handicap Tips

Roaring Legend has been racking up the wins recently and there could be more to come from the five-year-old when it comes to this Newcastle All-Weather Championships encounter. Hugo Palmer saddles a five-year-old who was last seen winning at Lingfield at the end of February when scoring over two miles.

This previously came after a win at Newcastle in the middle of January, with the horse beginning 2025 with a success at Wolverhampton. However, Wonder Legend also has the capability to go really well, with James Ferguson saddling a runner who was able to oblige at Wolves in the middle of March. This came after a second-placed finish at Kempton.

Plage De Havre is a four-year-old running off a lower mark that could well be suited to the trip of two miles, half a furlong. He has three lengths to find on Wonder Legend after the pair met at Wolves, with this coming after a success at Newcastle at the beginning of February. The horse tends to finish in the first two places home.

Duke Of Oxford is a five-year-old who runs for trainer Michael Bell, with the horse last seen winning at Kempton in the middle of December. A long rest might have benefitted the horse and there was previously a success at the same track in November. Heathen was able to score for David O’Meara in his latest outing and could also go close.

2024 All-Weather Championships Marathon Tips

The All-Weather Championships Marathon Handicap takes place on Friday 29 March and it will be interesting to see which horse goes off favourite for this two mile, half a handicap encounter. Newcastle Racecourse will host a spectacle where a maximum of fourteen runners will battle it out over this long distance in pursuit of the spoils.

Spartan Army has recorded three straight wins and merits plenty of respect, with the horse having achieved two wins at Lingfield along with a success at Southwell. The latest victory came at the beginning of March where the 7/4 favourite was able to land a win in an AWC Marathon Trial Handicap.

There are lots of other viable conteneders including Max Vega, with the seven-year-old trained by Ralph Beckett although this is the top-weighted horse in the field. There was a second placed finish at Kempton on the all-weather at the end of January and that came after a success at Wolverhampton in the middle of February.

Palace Boy is another seven-year-old with solid credentials and the Ralph J Smith-trained runner should squeak into the field as one of the lowest-weighted contenders. There have been successive victories at Wolverhampton Racecourse before finishing second behind Spartan Army last time out at Lingfield.

2023 All-Weather Marathon Championships Tips

Berkshire Rocco is one of the shortest-priced favourites when it comes to All-Weather Championships day at Newcastle’s all-weather track, with Andrew Balding’s runner having the highest rating on the racecard. The six-year-old was second when last appearing, with a runner-up performance at Kempton Park seeing the horse finish behind Earl Of Tyrone.

Previously to this, there was a win at Southwell, with Oisin Murphy now looking to return this horse to the winners’ enclosure. There are some viable alternatives and that includes Earlofthecotswolds who could be a better each-way betting option, with Nigel Twiston-Davies saddling a more experienced runner.

The nine-year-old was able to win a fast-track qualifier for this race when obliging at Wolverhampton, with this taking place over two miles, half a furlong. Previously to this, there was a joint-fourth performance at the Kempton all-weather track, with the horse having nearly nine lengths to find on the favourite.

Nolton Cross was on target when winning at Wolverhampton and there have been three victories from the past four outings. The horse last scored in mid-March and arrives in excellent form, with this runner the preferred each-way option. The horse has made the frame in five of his previous six outings which will inspire confidence.

2021 All-Weather Championship Betting Tips

The 2021 All Weather Championship is scheduled to take place at Lingfield Park Racecourse on Friday 2 April, with the best-performing horses on the all-weather surfaces getting the opportunity to battle it out over their respective distances.

This includes the Marathon Championships over sixteen furlongs, while there are other notable heats including the 3 Year Old Championships, 3 Year Old Sprint, Sprint Championships Mile Championships, Fillies & Mares Championships and Middle Distance Championships.

Rainbow Dreamer Favourite to Win All-Weather Marathon

Rainbow Dreamer is currently top of the All-Weather Marathon leaderboard and will line up on 2 April with the hope that he’ll follow up a successful winter season by landing a victory over sixteen furlongs, with the Alan King-trained horse recently securing an important victory in the Unibet Conditions Stakes at Kempton Park.

This race was an All-Weather Championships fast-track qualifier and puts the horse in the line-up for this race, with the horse having previously finished second in another qualifier at Wolverhampton and it’s clear that he should be among the front runners.

Mildenberger was the winner of that particular encounter and needs to be respected in this long distance race, with the Mark Johnston-trained runner having recently been blown out to Riyadh to run in the Red Sea Turf Handicap where a sixth-placed finish meant it was a relatively profitable trip out there.

Amtiyaz is another horse that should be treated with respect, with John Gosden having seen his runner triumph several times this season and the most recent of these was in a race at Kempton Park at the end of January where the horse won over two miles.

The History of the All-Weather Championship

ARC are also known as Arena Racing Company and this is a firm that control three of the five all-weather racecourses in England, with this company launching the All-Weather Championships in 2013 to celebrate all the meetings that take place over the winter and add a competitive edge along with lots of extra prize money.

The Championships begin in October where we see a number of qualifying races available and horses can compete in a number of heats in order to make it through to the final, with various leaderboards set up for the runners that line up at the all-weather courses.

The Marathon Championships are the longest distance out of any All-Weather Championship races, with two miles proving to be a real test of stamina and it’s always intriguing to see which horse comes out on top.
