Lockinge Stakes Betting Odds

We’re always excited by this Group 1 encounter at Newbury Racecourse, with the Lockinge Stakes being run over a mile and this could be a classic renewal. Rosallion is trained by Richard Hannon and looks to have the credentials to claim a victory. Dancing Gemini could also go well for Roger Teal and the four-year-old has been in the winning habit.

Notable Speech also has a high official rating and returns for a seasonal debut with the potential to go well for Charlie Appleby. There’s a slight jump in the prices to Tamfana, with the horse having finished runner-up this season. Sardinian Warrior has been a winning machine and might hit the frame in this encounter.

2025 Lockinge Stakes Betting Tips

The Lockinge Stakes has been in operation since 1958 and we’re looking forward to the latest renewal which takes place on 17 May. Rosallion returns to the track after a successful previous season where the Richard Hannon-trained runner was able to score at Ascot and the Curragh. In terms of the former, it was a success in the St James’s Palace Stakes.

That was a sharp performance over a mile in Group 1 company, while the Irish triumph was in the 2,000 Guineas where the horse was able to oblige as the 10/11 favourite. He is likely to set a high benchmark for the other runners in this race. However, Dancing Gemini has also got the potential to go well for trainer Roger Teal.

This horse has already been performing well at the track this term. There was a success at Sandown where the 5/2 favourite obliged in the bet365 Mile which was a Group 2 encounter. There was also a success in the Doncaster Mile Stakes where the charge was able to secure a winning distance by nearly four lengths.

Notable Speech is yet to run this season although Charlie Appleby saddles a horse who was last seen running at Del Mar at the Breeders’ Cup meeting. In the Mile race, the favourite was narrowly edged out, with Tamfana having run well at Sandown Park towards the end of April. There was not much between him and Dancing Gemini.

2024 Lockinge Stakes Tips

Inspiral produced some stunning performances last season, with the horse going off as the 5/2 favourite in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf race before landing a victory. It was a slender win by a neck against Warm Heart, with that being preceded by a win in the Sun Chariot Stakes where the John & Thady Gosden-trained runner was sent off at 10/11.

Back in August, there was a success at Deauville where the horse was able to triumph in the Prix du Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard Jacques le Marois, with Big Rock having finished second on that occasion. Maurizio Guarnieri trains a four-year-old who was last successful at Ascot when beating off ten other contenders.

It was a six length success at October in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, with the horse finishing second at Longchamp in his previous race. Having been sent off as the 3/5 favourite in the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp, with the two favourites set for a potentially entertaining encounter.

Charyn claimed consecutive wins at Sandown and Doncaster in March and April, with the former success coming in the Doncaster Mile Stakes. Sent off as the 2/1 favourite, the horse was able to beat Astral Beau by three and a half lengths, with the horse then winning the bet365 Mile when obliging against Poker Face.

2023 Lockinge Stakes Tips

Modern Games ran in the Maker’s Mark Mile Stakes at Keeneland Racecourse last month, with the Charlie Appleby-trained charge having been sent off as the 9/20 favourite having been beaten by Chez Pierre over one mile, although the bookmakers still respect the chances of a horse that had previously won the Breeders’ Cup Mile back in November.

William Buick will once again be on board a runner who has already commanded a large sum of prize money, with that autumn victory at Keeneland a striking piece of form. There was also a runner-up spot behind outsider Bayside Boy in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, with this horse certainly one for the betting shortlist.

Laurel has been in the winners’ enclosure on plenty of occasions, with the four-year-old claiming a victory in a Fillies’ Stakes race on the all-weather at Kempton Racecourse on 10 April, with the horse being sent off as 8/13 favourite before obliging, with the filly also finishing second in the Sun Chariot Stakes after a fine performance.

My Prospero was sent off at odds of 22/1 in the Qipco Champion Stakes last October before running into third place, with behind Bay Bridge and Adayar. Tom Marquand gave the horse a tremendous spin in a close finish and we might see more improvement coming from a four-year-old who won the Prix Eugene Adam at Saint-Cloud over one mile and two furlongs.

Baaeed is a horse that boasts an unbeaten record to date. There have been a string of victories and the latest of these came when winning the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes back in October. The runner was sent off at 2/1 and duly obliged for his backers after claiming a narrow victory against favourite Palace Pier.

That victory was over the distance of one mile and it will be the same trip when it comes to the 2022 Lockinge Stakes, with Baaeed having previously won the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp. This was another Group 1 victory where the horse ridden by Jim Crowley certainly didn’t let his backers down.

If you are looking beyond the race favourite in the Lockinge betting odds, then you could do worse than consider Mother Earth. The four-year-old has a heap of experience having run ten times last year and recently lined up in the Lodge Park Stud Irish EBF Park Express Stakes where she won on yielding ground at The Curragh.

Mother Earth has gone up against Baaeed before, running in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes and performing well at huge horse racing odds of 33/1. A fifth-placed finish in that contest saw her beat a clutch of talented runners, with Ryan Moore likely to be on board again and we could see the horse ridden in the rear before mounting am assault.

Aldaary is a William Haggas-trained horse that could represent a decent each-way bet. Towards the back end of the 2021 flat season, the four-year-old was able to win a couple of races at Ascot that had huge fields, with victory being scored in the Balmoral Handicap and that came after a win over seven furlongs.

The Revenant is also a horse to watch, with this being a French runner who finished fourth in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes and he was actually in the lead with roughly a furlong to go before ebbing away. Connections will hope that stamina isn’t such a big issue at Newbury Racecourse when the horse challenges for the 2022 Lockinge Stakes.

Palace Pier a Big Betting Favourite for Lockinge 2021

Palace Pier is a talented four-year-old who has already has the bet365 Mile under his belt after winning this Group 2 encounter on 23 April, with the horse only having to beat three other horses in that encounter although there is plenty to like about a runner that is trained by John Gosden.

Last season, Palace Pier finished third in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes despite being sent off at odds-on favourite, although more is expected of a horse that previously won the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot and the bookies think he’s more likely to triumph in this race than miss out.

Lope Y Fernandez Second Favourite in the Betting

Aidan O’Brien is rarely far away when it comes to having a lively runner or two for the Group 1 flat horse races and the Irishman has an interesting contender in the form of Lope Y Fernandez, with the horse having run in the Breeders' Cup Mile back in November and finished a credible third in that race.

The four-year-old has since won the Heritage Stakes at Leopardstown and it was a pretty comfortable when being sent off at odds of 4/6, with more to come from a horse who has bags of experience and might run well at Newbury Racecourse.

Who Are the Other Lockinge Stakes Betting Favourites?

Aidan O’Brien has the next two in the 2021 Lockinge Stakes betting, with Order of Australia having to be respected considering that he won that Breeders’ Cup Mile when causing a stir and landing the spoils at an incredible 40/1, with that victory being a fantastic result for the bookies at the time.

It’s far from certain whether that was a freak performance, although Armory is another interesting runner and a second-placed finish behind Sir Dragonet suggests that the horse has good form coming into this encounter.
