2024 Thyestes Handicap Chase Tips

There are two horses vying for favouritism when it comes to the Goffs Thyestes Handicap Chase, with Angels Dawn and Dunboyne both having solid credentials based on the latest betting odds. The former is trained by Sam Curling and the runner was well off the pace at Navan in December running in a handicap hurdle although it did win the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup.

Dunboyne was fourth in that latter race, when finishing thirteen lengths behind eventual winner Angels Dawn, with the horse then being pulled up in the Grand National back in April. More recently, there was a fourth-placed finish in the Bar One Racing Troytown Handicap Chase over three miles on soft to heavy ground.

Fakir D’alene is from the same stable as Dunboyne and we’ll never know how the horse might have wound up in a Leopardstown race over the festive season when being brought down in a long distance encounter. Previously to this, the runner was sent off at odds of 28/1 and finished up well despite racing wide for much for the encounter.

Glengouly was second out of twelve runners at Limerick when losing by four lengths to Happy Dreams, with the eight-year-old running for Willie Mullins. Henry de Bromhead saddles Shantreusse who looks to have a favourable weight allowance and the horse was second at Navan in the Foxrock Handicap Chase.
