Kim Muir Challenge Cup Betting Odds
Day Three of the 2026 Cheltenham Festival comes to an end with the Kim Muir Challenge Cup, with the runners and riders tackling a course over three miles and two furlongs. It's the final chance to back a winner and perhaps it will be Jeriko Du Reponet who is sent off as the favourite. He's the early front runner in the betting and some of his performances have been eye-catching.

2026 Rosconn Group Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Amateur Jockeys' Handicap Betting Tips Nicky Henderson's charge finished second in the Pertemps Network Final twelve months ago when trailing home Doddiethegreat, with the runner then heading to Punchestown and winning a similar handicap where the form was franked with the above horse. In November, there was an encouraging display at Kempton Park where the runner was able to get a clean round of jumping done in a Beginners Chase.
However, there are lots of potential contenders and that includes The Wallpark who runs for Gordon Elliott although the horse will have to improve on November 2025 outings. There was an eleventh-placed finish out of sixteen at Naas before a long way behind the leading runners at Fairyhouse a few weeks later.
Deep Cave's form has been altogether more encouraging. In the Howden Silver Cup Handicap Chase at Ascot, the horse racked up a third successive victory of the season. It was also the third win at double figure odds, with an April victory coming at monster odds of 28/1 when the horse produced a stunning performance on good ground at Aintree.
There was then a November triumph at Bangor-on-Dee where the horse beat The Doyen Chief by over two lengths, with Will The Wise another one for the shortlist. At Navan in the middle of November, there was a fourth-placed finish in a field of nineteen runners, with that coming after an October success at Galway.
2025 Kim Muir Chase Tips Backtonormal is currently the favourite to win the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup and there’s plenty to like about a contender who won at the Dublin Racing Festival. In a handicap chase over two miles, five and a half furlongs, the 11/4 favourite was able to triumph by over three lengths and that certainly laid down a marker for the Festival.
Jonjo O’Neill has an interesting runner in the form of Hasthing, with the eight-year-old having finished first out of fourteen horses when obliging by three and a half lengths at Windsor in mid-January. This came after a success at the same track in mid-December, with the season starting with a midfield finish at Chepstow.
Now Is The Hour is another horse that has bold claims in the final race on Day Three of the Cheltenham Festival, with the eight-year-old having finished fourth out of eleven runners at Navan in January. It was a solid effort considering the runner was sent off at 20/1 in this Beginners Chase, with this being a useful market for the Kim Muir.
Answer to Kayf, Johnnywho and Monbeg Genius are among the other contenders although they do have multiple entries into some of the other handicap races. There was lots to like about a recent performance at Navan where the horse was able to score by twelve lengths and that could mean an each-way bet on the runner is a profitable one.
2024 Kim Muir Challenge Cup Tips Meetingofthewaters has landed back to back successes at Cork and Leopardstown, with the Willie Mullins-trained runner having obliged at the former track as the even money favourite before making the step up to claim a sizeable win over Panda Boy over the festive period, with the six-year-old now heading the betting for this encounter.
Monbeg Genius has multiple entries for the Festival and will go off as one of the favourites if connections decide that the eight-year-old goes down this route. There was a third-placed finish out of twenty runners when competing well over three miles and two furlongs, with the horse having ran well in the Ultima Handicap Chase last year.
Stumptown has course and distance form considering that the seven-year-old was able to claim a victory at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day, with a five-length victory being achieved when obliging against favourite Inch House over three miles, one and a half furlongs. Previously to this, the same runner was pulled up at Newbury at the beginning of December.
Stumptown finished second to Angels Dawn in this race last season and the latter should go well again in this race, with the nine-year-old having finished seventh out of sixteen runners at Navan in his last outing. Last year’s winner will be carrying more weight this time around although there could be each-way value when it comes to going with this charge.
2023 Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup Betting Tips Stumptown is bidding for a third successive victory when lining up in the 2023 Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup, with Gavin Cromwell having seen his horse perform to a high level. The horse was sent off as the 6/4 favourite for a recent handicap chase at Sandown Park before triumphing over three miles and that suggests there is more to come from the favourite.
It could be worth comparing the betting odds nearer to the start of the race considering that this is a handicap race where as many as twenty-four runners will compete over twenty-two fences. You essentially want to find a horse that jumps well and is going to have plenty of stamina, with Mr Incredible recently finishing second over three miles and five furlongs.
You can make a case for Angels Dawn and the same applies to Dunboyne who is trained by Gordon Elliott, with the eight-year-old having impressed when finishing second in a handicap chase race at Gowran Park . Having lost by a short head at odds of 25/1, there is a strong feeling that an impressive run can be had at the Cheltenham Festival .
We would recommend waiting for the final declarations before going ahead with your selections. There are several horses who have a multiple entry in this race. It’s also interesting to see which amateur riders are booked on the respective leading horses and that can be quite a strong barometer for which runners stand the best chance.
2022 Kim Muir Challenge Cup Tips Interestingly, the past three Cheltenham Festival winners in the Kim Muir Challenge Cup have not only been aged seven but also been carrying a similar weight. Any Second Now was carrying 11-11 when the Ted Walsh-trained runner claimed the spoils, with Milan Native securing a victory a year later off a weight of 11-08.
Mount Ida won again for Gordon Elliott thanks to a great ride from Jack Kennedy, although professional riders will be excluded this time around as the amateurs return to the saddles. It will be interesting to see which horses are among the most popular Cheltenham Festival tips.
Frontal Assault and Grand Paradis Among Cheltenham Favourites Frontal Assault could follow in the footsteps of previous Gordon Elliott-trained runners, with the Gigginstown-owned horse having run a grand race at Fairyhouse a few weeks ago. Towards the end of January, Bryan Cooper gave the seven-year-old a cracking ride and it was just half a length defeat when missing out on a Beginners’ Chase.
The horse ran reasonably well in the 2021 Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle when finishing eighth and there were some talented horses ahead of the runner in that encounter including the hotly anticipated Galopin des Champs. Perhaps this is the great Cheltenham each-way bet for the final race on Day Three.
Grand Paradis is a six-year-old that merits respect, with the horse dead-heating with Frontal Assault in the Get A Run For Your Money With BetVictor Beginners Chase. Previously to this, the horse ran into third place at Fairyhouse Racecourse and should be on the shortlist here.
The Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup is the final race on Day Three of the 2020 Cheltenham Festival and this encounter has been in place since the end of the Second World War, with Astrometer winning the first race in 1946.
This is a race that rewards stamina, with the encounter taking place over three miles and two furlongs, with the jockeys all being amateur riders and Jamie Codd has enjoyed victories in this race on board The Package and Cause Of Causes.
More recently, Domesday Book, Missed Approach and Any Second Now have won the Kim Muir and perhaps this year’s winner could come in the form of Glenloe , with the horse finishing second in the Pertemps Network Final two years ago and he appears to have recovered from injury to take his place this season.
The main concern is that the horse hasn’t scored a victory in any of his previous eleven races, with the runner finishing fourth in a Grade B race at Limerick at the end of 2019, with two other JP McManus horses placing higher in that encounter.
There is likely to be a wide open look about the betting market for this race, with the runners not exactly known at the time of writing, although Cabaret Queen looks set to be lining up and this could be an interesting runner.
Willie Mullins has taken the horse into his yard after he was previously trained by Dan Skelton, with the runner having disappointed on her last trip over to England when being pulled up in the Ladbrokes Trophy Chase.
The Conditional looks like a better proposition considering that the eight-year-old ran impressively when he was last at Cheltenham racecourse , with the David Bridgwater obliging at 14/1 in the Matchbook Betting Exchange Handicap Chase.
There’s plenty to be said for a horse that has previously run well at the track, with some good horses beaten on that occasion. There was also a second placed finish in the Ladbrokes Trophy Chase and an each-way punt could be the way forward.
