2024 King George Qatar Stakes Tips

Asfoora is one of the older horses in the King George Qatar Stakes although perhaps this runner is the one to beat. The six-year-old runs for trainer Henry Dwyer and there was a smart victory last time out, with the horse winning the King George III Stakes over five furlongs at the Royal Ascot meeting.

Big Evs is half the above’s age but trading at a similar price, with Michael Appleby training a runner who is carrying five pounds less than Asfoora. Last time out, the horse finished third as the 11/4 favourite and it was Asfoora who was successful on that occasion, although that was preceded by a success in the Westow Stakes at York.

Previously to this, Big Evs was successful in the Breeders’ Cup race when obliging in the Juvenile Turf Sprint, with that coming after a victory in the Flying Childers Stakes. Believing is worth considering after two wins in the past four races, with George Boughey’s horse winning the Barberstown Castle Sapphire Stakes over five furlongs.

Starlust has claimed two victories in the past three races, with a win coming at York as the 13/8 favourite in the John Smith’s City Walls Stakes. Previously to this, the horse achieved a midfield finish in the Commonwealth Cup over six furlongs, with Bucanero Fuerte having notched several wins this term.

2023 King George Qatar Stakes Tips

Highfield Princess has been installed as the short-priced favourite to win the King George Qatar Stakes, with the mare having performed well this flat season despite not triumphing in any of her three encounters. The horse was sent off as the 11/4 market leader in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes before finishing third in the race.

This performance came hard on the heels of a second-placed finish in the King’s Stand Stakes at the Royal Ascot meeting, with the horse having proven her class in Group 1 company, with the charge having finished second in the Duke Of York Clipper Stakes when losing by half a length when finishing runner-up to Azure Blue.

Equality will run for Charles Hills in this race and the five-year-old has secured back to back successes to set a potential platform to succeed. There was a victory at Sandown Park in early July when triumphing in the Coral Charge, with a win occurring by a length and a half against the field, with this coming after a win at Windsor.

Twilight Calls goes off at a similar price and the five-year-old produced a career-best performance when finishing fourth last time out. That was in the highly competitive King’s Stand Stakes when the horse outran their odds of 20/1, with Regional another one to watch and the five-year-old was able to score at York and Haydock this summer.

2022 King George Stakes Tips

Royal Aclaim hasn’t put a foot wrong during his short career to date. It’s possible that we will see the horse outclass his opponents in the King George Stakes, with the latest win coming in the John Smith’s City Walls Stakes and there was a two-length victory over five furlongs at the Knavesmire Racecourse.

Andrea Atzeni is likely to be on board a horse that obliged at odds-on in a Novice Stakes at Bath Racecourse, with the runner likely to go off favourite and it will be interesting if the horse is progressive enough to finish ahead of his rivals.

There is last year’s winner to take into consideration and there is plenty to like about Suesa. The French runner was victorious in the King George Stakes although it’s interesting to note that the four-year-old hasn’t won in any of his subsequent five wins.

We’re not saying that last season’s Glorious Goodwood win was a fluke, although there have been a few near-misses including a second placed finish in the Prix Hampton, with Olivier Peslier on board a horse who looks like a decent each-way prospect based on the presence of the market leader.

Twilight Calls is the horse to beat in the eyes of many, with a second-placed finish being recorded in the King’s Stand Stakes. The four-year-old was well behind Nature Strip in that race although the freakish performance of the Australian speedball means that this represents decent form and we’d be happy to take a chance here.

Battaash Hot Favourite for 2021 King George Stakes

Battaash will rightfully be regarded as a legend of the flat UK horse racing season irrespective of whether he adds to his four King George Stakes victories, although there is every chance that Jim Crowley will ride the seven-year-old to yet another triumph based on the Glorious Goodwood betting odds.

The slight issue with backing this horse is due to the fact that it was only a fourth-placed finish which could be registered when running at Royal Ascot, with Oxted stealing the limelight when winning the King’s Stand Stakes, with Battaash having been sent off as 11/8 favourite.

Indeed, Rohaan has landed two Ascot victories as well as that Haydock win, with the David Evans-trained mount having claimed the spoils in the Wokingham Stakes to suggest he has a brighter future.

The History of the King George Stakes

Battaash is the recent superstar of the King George at Glorious Goodwood, with this Charles Hills horse having landed a victory in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. Interestingly, the runner has been marginally quicker every time he has taken to the track and he could be among the leading names lining up for the 2021 renewal.

Unsurprisingly, Lester Piggott is a jockey who has enjoyed unprecedented success in the King George Stakes, with the rider having secured a double on Right Boy, while Matatina, Pugnacity, Raffingora, Constans, Valeriga, Tina’s Pet and Anita’s Prince delivering more success for the famous horseman.
