There are sure to be extra places available when it comes to the 2024 Galway Hurdle, with the runners and riders competing over two miles to claim a victory in this Grade 3 encounter. There are two five-year-olds heading the market, with Daddy Long Legs and Under Control among the favourites to land the spoils.

Gorgeous Tom has been successful in his previous two races and there’s plenty to recommend the Henry de Bromhead-trained runner, while Fascile Mode was also victorious last time out. Thomas Mullins could have a lively contender, with Gaucher running for Willie Mullins and the five-year-old has a recent win under his belt.

2024 Galway Hurdle Tips

Willie Mullins has a number of runners in the Guiness Galway Hurdle, with the Irish handler looking for one of them to land a victory in this two mile encounter. Daddy Long Legs was last seen running at Tipperary in early July when finishing midfield although there had previously been victories at Punchestown and Ludlow.

Under Control is another five-year-old with solid credentials and Nicky Henderson saw his horse claim a couple of victories last season. They came at Cheltenham and Sandown, although the last outing as at Doncaster back in January where the runner finished second in the Yorkshire Rose Mares’ Hurdle.

Gorgeous Tom runs for Henry de Bromhead and the six-year-old is bidding for a third consecutive victory, with the latest win coming at Punchestown in early May. That came over two miles, three and a half furlongs, with this coming after a success at Naas in early April over a shorter distance of two miles.

Fascile Mode runs for Thomas Mullins and sealed the deal on the latest outing, with a victory coming at Punchestown in early June. There was a five and a half length success when competing over two miles and three furlongs, with favourite Ash Tree Meadow beaten into second by a considerable distance.

2023 Guinness Galway Bay Hurdle Tips

There’s going to be a fast-run pace over two miles when the runners and riders compete in the Galway Hurdle. Filey Bay has been installed as favourite and Emmet Mullins trains a horse who disappointed at Roscommon in the most recent outing when finishing down the field as the 6/5 favourite. However, the same horse was able to finish third in the County Hurdle at Cheltenham.

Sharjah is a horse that has achieved a good deal throughout his ten-year-old career, with the runner most previously finishing second at Tipperary in a Grade 3 hurdle race. Previously to this, there was a fourth-placed finish in the Paddy Power Champion Hurdle and the horse only finished three lengths behind Constitution Hill at Aintree.

Willie Mullins has other potential winners in the field, with Tekao having produced a disappointing run at Tipperary last time out, although the horse finished third in a handicap hurdle at Punchestown, with Bialystok being the eventual winner of this race and the latter is also set to line up here and put on a decent showing.

Paul Townend was on board the same horse when winning a maiden hurdle at Naas towards the end of February and the runner is now bidding to land a hat-trick of victories. My Mate Mozzie could also be a lively contender and the horse returns to the track after a lengthy absence, with Gavin Cromwell hoping for a strong performance.
