Irish Lincolnshire Betting Odds

While horse racing in the United Kingdom has temporarily been cancelled, the Irish horse racing continues behind closed doors and that includes the Irish Lincolnshire which is due to take place at The Curragh on Sunday 29 March.

This is a race which is run over a mile and it’s attracting more interest from UK shores due to the lack of horse racing in England and Wales right now, with Joseph O’Brien the trainer of the current race favourite and looking to beat his father Aidan.

Patrick Sarsfield had an impressive season last year although the big question is whether this horse and every other in the field is going to start the new campaign feeling rustiness and that makes it harder to judge.

Irish Lincolnshire Predictions and Tips

The first thing to say about the Irish Lincolnshire is that it’s a wide open race where the favourite is currently trading at 5/1. PATRICK SARSFIELD is the pick of the four-year-olds for many punters, with Joseph O’Brien having a potential superstar on his hands.

The horse has a favourable handicap of 8-7 and returns to a track where he enjoyed a facile victory over the same distance back in October, although we should bear in mind that the runner was sent off at 1/5 in that particular race and the competition will be a good deal stiffer this weekend.

Earlier in the same month, Patrick Sarsfield was beaten into second at Cork despite being sent off as 1/2 favourite and there are several attractive options trading at a bigger price including LANCASTER HOUSE.

Aidan O’Brien is the king of Irish trainers and the man at Coolmore will feel confident that his strongest four-year-old in the race can land a victory, with the horse having racked up three consecutive wins last year before a disappointing final run in 2019.

Despite being sent off as warm favourite at Leopardstown, the horse finished seventh of nine, although perhaps he can be forgiven for an off-run and we might expect better things to come.

NJORD also looks like a progressive type, with Jessica Harrington’s charge having won his previous encounter when triumphing by a distance slightly longer than a mile and it was a relatively comfortable win as the 9/4 favourite on soft-to-heavy ground.

If Joseph O’Brien hits the post with Patrick Sarsfield, then perhaps it will be NUMERIAN who scores for the young trainer determined to make a name for himself.

The four-year-old is trading at odds of 8/1 although the big concern is that the horse has failed to land a success in any of his previous six outings and perhaps an each-way bet would be a safer option.

The last time that O’Brien Jnr’s charge was seen at a race track, he ran in a competitive Group 3 encounter and finished second behind Blenheim Palace. The fact that it was a slender margin of defeat will see connections draw plenty of confidence ahead of this one.

At a slightly bigger price, one horse we like is BUCKY LARSON and we’ve seen the horse run already in 2020, with the Lyons-trained charge having finished third on the all-weather at Dundalk before a winning return to the same track on 21 February.
