Cotswold Chase Betting Odds

The 2024 Paddy Power Cotswold Chase is a high quality renewal taking place at Cheltenham Racecourse, with six runners set to line up in this long distance heat. All of the field stand a chance of registering a victory, with trainer Willie Mullins having the biggest priced contender in the field although Capodanno can’t be dismissed.

Datsalrightgino and Ahoy Senor are also likely to contend in this race, although Royale Pagaille has the potential to claim a victory. The ten-year-old could use his experience to produce the goods, with Stay Away Fay a younger counterpart who is now looking to secure a consecutive hat-trick of wins and the Paul Nicholls-trained runner stands a chance.

2024 Paddy Power Cotswold Chase Tips

There’s very little to separate Royale Pagaille and Stay Away Fay when it comes to the Paddy Power Cotswold Chase, with the former having achieved a great deal during a stellar career to date. The latest win came in the Betfair Chase at Haydock where the horse was able to triumph by six and a half lengths to defeat odds-on favourite Bravemansgame.

Stay Away Fay has recorded back to back victories and the Paul Nicholls-trained charge merits respect from the layers, with the horse carrying 11-7 and the seven-year-old is likely to be a warm order. There was a win at Exeter in November which was followed by a triumph at Sandown Park where the horse was able to oblige as the 8/11 favourite.

The Real Whacker could also be a lively contender, with the horse bidding to bounce back after a mildly disappointing fourth place out of six runners on Boxing Day. This came after being pulled up at Cheltenham in November, although we can cast our mind back to the previous Cheltenham Festival where the horse produced a dazzling performance.

Ahoy Senor and Datsalrightgino come next in the betting, with the former a nine-year-old who has been pulled up in both outings this season. Previous form suggests that there could be an improvement here, while the latter was able to oblige with a big victory when competing at Newbury last time around.

2023 Cotswold Chase Betting Tips

Protektorat is trained by Dan Skelton and the eight-year-old put in a smart round of jumping to win the Betfair Chase on 19 November. The horse quickened when asked and there was an eleven length win which really laid down a marker. We might be looking at a potential Gold Cup winner although there is plenty of improvement needed to challenge A Plus Tard.

Noble Yeats scored a Grand National victory in 2022, with the eight-year-old producing a fine performance in the Boylesports Many Clouds Chase on 3 December, with the Emmet Mullins-trained charge winning by over three lengths on good to soft ground. This came after winning a listed race at Wexford, with the horse likely to be a warm order.

Ahoy Senor wasn’t able to live with the pace in the King George VI Chase on Boxing Day at Kempton Park, with the eight-year-old finishing fifth behind the likes of winner Bravemansgame and also Frodon. However, the horse wasn’t too far away when finishing third to Noble Yeats at Aintree and perhaps the runner can benefit from the weight allowance.

Frodon is now the ripe old age of 11 although the Paul Nicholls-trained charge has plenty to recommend him due to not ever running a bad race. The horse finished a respectable third place in the King George VI Chase, with Sounds Russian having plenty to recommend him and the Ruth Jefferson-trained runner is slightly shorter than outsider Dusart.
