Gordon Elliott is not short of lively chances when it comes to the Oakmere Homes Handicap Hurdle, with the Irish handler going into this race typically mob-handed. There are lots of intriguing horse races on the Cartmel racecard for Sunday’s meeting, with Set Point, Banks Boy and New Year Honours all set to run for trainer Gordon Elliott. Banks Boy has a four pound advantage over his stablemate, with the seven-year-old finishing second out of eighteen runners when being sent off as the 9/2 favourite at Cork, with the horse returning after a lengthy absence and there could be more to come from a runner who was victorious at Down Royal in June 2022.

New Year Honours is lurking near the foot of the racing betting market for this race and the four-year-old is clearly open to more improvement than the majority of horses in this field. There was everything to like about a recent performance at Punchestown on 10 June, with the horse winning by over five lengths to claim a victory as 11/8 favourite.
