Byrne Group Handicap Chase Betting Odds

There’s some great racing at Ascot on Saturday, with the third race on the card being the Grundon Waste Management Handicap Chase. There’s a big field set to line up and L'Eau du Sud is among the favourites to win the race. The seven-year-old sets a high benchmark although the betting market implies that this is a wide open contest.

Martator runs for Venetia Williams and the eight-year-old could perform well on a seasonal debut, with Boothill an older adversary with plenty of class. Paul Nicholls saddles Sans Bruit and the horse was able to land a success in the previous two encounters of last season. Then we have General Medrano and Petit Tonnerre at a bigger price.

2025 Grundon Waste Management Handicap Chase Betting Tips

There are fifteen horses lining up for the Grundon Waste Management Handicap Chase at Ascot and the majority are in with a chance of landing a victory. L'Eau du Sud was a serial winner last season and looks the one to beat this time around. Although the horse finished fourth out of five in the Cheltenham Festival Arkle, it was a close run thing.

Sent off as the 5/4 favourite in the Maghull Novices’ Chase at Aintree, the runner was able to finish third out of five horses. The horse was found wanting over two miles on that occasion, with Martator carrying a stone less for this race. The eight-year-old ran really well when finishing tenth out of twenty runners in the Grand Annual Challenge Cup.

Boothill has had indifferent form recently although there’s no debating that the ten-year-old has racked up some impressive wins in his career. The latest outing came at Ascot in the Clarence House Chase where the horse was a distant fourth. However, the horse might still be able to show the class which enabled him to follow home Jonbon in the Schloer Chase.

Sans Bruit is an interesting contender, with Paul Nicholls saddling a seven-year-old who was able to finish the season with successive wins. The latest effort came at Plumpton after an impressive success at Aintree at the beginning of April. The horse won well when scoring in the Red Rum Handicap Chase over two miles.

2024 Byrne Group Handicap Chase Tips

There are lots of contenders trading at single figure betting odds to win this encounter, with the Byrne Group Handicap Chase featuring some talented horses. Run over two miles and one furlong at Ascot, it needs a strong jumping display along with some serious stamina and perhaps Saint Segal can be the one to deliver the goods.

Jane Williams trains a runner who was fourth out of ten runners at Chepstow last time out, with the horse well behind the first three on that occasion. It’s been a long time since the horse last recorded a victory and perhaps Martator represents better value, with Venetia Williams’ charge having racked up the wins last time out.

Back in April came a victory at Sandown Park, with a seven length triumph achieved over two miles and four furlongs. This came after a success at Ascot where the horse landed the spoils by another convincing margin. There was also a win at Newbury at the beginning of March and these all point to a strong showing in this encounter.

Master Chewy returns to action after some impressive showings last season, with Nigel Twiston-Davies training a seven-year-old who finished second out of ten runners at Aintree last time out. The horse came within a whisker of beating favourite Found A Fifty in the Maghull Novices’ Chase and a repeat performance could land a victory.

2023 Byrne Group Handicap Chase

It’s not easy finding the winner of the 2023 Byrne Group Handicap Chase although perhaps Boothill could be the leading contender. Harry Fry trains a runner who secured three victories last season, with wins coming at Newton Abbott, Ascot and Kempton last term. The most recent outing at Kempton back in February saw the charge finish third out of five.

That was over two miles, four and a half furlongs, with a shorter trip potentially to the horse’s liking. However, Frere D’Armes runs for Dan Skelton and perhaps a strong run is on the cards for this horse. The horse didn’t run well in a previous outing at Ayr when finishing seventh out of nine as the 2/1 favourite, although that was preceded by a strong performance at Ascot.

Red Rookie returns to the track after previously finishing third out of seven runners at Kempton Racecourse at the beginning of May. The favourite on that occasion finished over ten lengths off the pace, with a handicap chase win previously coming at Warwick, although some customers might want to back a runner at a bigger price.

Saint Segal could potentially fit the bill and the five-year-old is potentially open to more improvement than other runners in the race. There needs to be an upgrade on that eight length defeat to Red Rookie although the charge has previously run well at Doncaster and merits respect after wins at Chepstow and Hereford.
