2026 Grand National Trial Handicap Chase Betting Tips The William Hill Half A Mill Grand National Trial Handicap Chase will give some valuable pointers as to what might happen at Haydock Park on Saturday 14 February. Rivers Corner followed up three successive third-placed finishes for Joe Tizzard last time out although the previous effort ended in a victory. That came at Wincanton in mid-January. There was everything to like about a convincing triumph by over twenty lengths and it's clear that the runner has been laid out for a big tilt at the Aintree showdown.
2025 Grand National Trial Handicap Chase Tips Mr Vango is definitely a prime contender in the Grand National Trial at Haydock Park, with the nine-year-old having landed back to back successes this season. Although he’s one of the top-weighted horses, there was a success at Haydock Park last time out and that came after a success at Sandown Park in December.
Jubilee Express was second in his last showing, with the Sam Thomas-trained runner finishing runner-up in the Welsh Grand National , with the horse performing well over three miles, six and a half furlongs. There was also a success at Haydock Park back in March and it could be worth trying to back this horse each-way based on form.
Val Dancer has twice been in the winners’ enclosure this season and Mel Rowley trains a runner who could be well weighted for this encounter. There was lots to like about the performance levels when it came to the Coral Welsh National, with this horse certainly having the stamina to land the spoils when it comes to this race.
Yeah Man has been in the frame this term on two occasions, with the Gavin Cromwell-trained charge having finished four out of eighteen horses when running at Gowran Park towards the end of January, with Git Maker having flopped at Windsor last time out although there was previously a strong effort when finishing third in the Scottish Grand National.
2024 Grand National Trial Tips The Grand National Trial Handicap Chase isn’t just a chance to see some of the big race contenders who could descend on Aintree in a few weeks’ time. It’s a strong race in its own right, with Iron Bridge among the betting favourites and he was second in his previous encounter. Anthony Honeyball saw his horse claim a win at Wincanton and he was then second to Famous Bridge at Haydock Park which suggests that another tilt could be on the cards.
2023 Grand National Trial Tips Corach Rambler could yet be a future Grand National winner and the nine-year-old heads the betting market for this trial race at Haydock Park . Many regard the horse as being off a favourable mark carrying 11-2 and we saw the runner finish fourth in the Coral Gold Cup Handicap Chase, with the horse likely to have benefitted from that particular run at Newbury.
Bristol De Mai has had a decorated career, with the twelve-year-old entering the twilight of his career, with the horse proving underwhelming last time he turned out at Haydock. Fourth in the Betfair Chase proved that the trip was too stiff for this runner who might benefit more from a long distance slog and we did see this runner win the same race twelve months ago.
Does He Know is a younger horse and the eight-year-old was able to win the Jewson Handicap Chase, with the horse landing the spoils over three miles, three and a half furlongs. The horse has the potential to step up after that performance and looks to have the sort of stamina that can make an impression in this race.
Venetia Williams will be quietly confident that horses from her stable can make an impression, with Fontaine Collonges winning the Betfair Exchange Handicap on 19 November, with the runner claiming a victory by a head. Quick Wave is a ten-year-old who was pulled up at Chepstow in the Welsh Grand National although there was previously a long-distance win at Sandown Park.

Bristol De Mai is a potential Grand National winner although the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained runner was pulled up at Aintree in 2021, with the runner also pulled up in the Betfair Chase. The horse now needs to improve on a third-placed finish at Lingfield Racecourse which recently happened.

The latter victory took place in the Welsh Grand National , with the horse sent off as the 5/2 favourite and there seems little reason to desert the runner considering there were complications during that most recent victory which could mean further progress could be on the cards.
Could Notachance Have a Strong Chance of Winning National Trial? Despite the horse’s name, we think Notachance could have a decent chance of scoring a win at Haydock in late February, with Alan King having saddled the horse to two victories already this season and there are plenty of signs that we will see a decent run from the seven-year-old who has a favourable weight handicap of 10-2.
The horse scored his first victory of the season over three miles at Bangor-On-Dee racecourse and that was achieved on soft ground before the runner triumphed with a victory at Warwick on 16 January when winning over three miles and five furlongs so there is plenty of class.
Who Are the Other Grand National Trial Contenders? Bristol De Mai is the headline act who will be turning out in this race and we’re intrigued to see how the Nigel Twiston-Davies horse fares considering that he will be carrying a lot of weight compared to the vast majority of his opponents. The ten-year-old is trading at around the 10/1 mark and won the Betfair Chase on heavy ground on 21 November 2020, with the horse having been rested since then.
Sojourn has the advantage of already running at Haydock this season and finished second in the Betfair Tommy Whittle Chase, while The Two Amigos seems to be getting closer to Secret Reprieve after two second-placed finishes behind the same horse this season and maybe it will be third time lucky.
