Kingwell Hurdle Betting Odds

There are six runners set to go to post at Wincanton on Saturday when the BetMGM Kingwell Hurdle takes place. This Grade 2 encounter features at least four horses that can land a victory and that includes Burdett Road who is the short priced favourite. However, the five-year-old could only finish third on his previous appearance.

Golden Ace has also missed out on a victory in his previous two races, although the seven-year-old can also make an impact under the tutelage of Jeremy Scott. Nemean Lion has secured consecutive victories and Kerry Lee trains an eight-year-old who could be a good each-way wager. Brentford Hope has also been featuring in the places recently.

2025 BetMGM Kingwell Hurdle Tips

Burdett Road is trading as the market leader for the BetMGM Kingwell Hurdle, with the latest effort being a fairly strong one despite finishing third out of four horses. Sent off at 16/1 in the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton Park, the runner was able to finish just nine lengths behind Constitution Hill. This came after a striking victory in the Greatwood Hurdle.

The James Owen-trained charge sealed a half length triumph over two miles, half a furlong. There could be more to come from the favourite, although Golden Ace is also worthy of consideration. The latest showing was a third-placed finish out of six horses at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day, with the horse potentially finding the trip too far in the Relkeel Hurdle.

There was some smart form at Cheltenham last spring, with the horse winning a novices’ hurdle in April after that success coming in the Mares’ Novices Hurdle when the 10/1 shot was able to score at the Festival. However, Nemean Lion was able to record back to back successes, with Kerry Lee training the eight-year-old.

The horse was able to recently score at Windsor and that came after a success at Hereford, with the other interesting contender being Brentford Hope. The eight-year-old has regularly been among the places and we should note that the runner came within three lengths of Constitution Hill in the Unibet Hurdle at Cheltenham.

2024 Kingwell Hurdle Tips

Rubaud has been installed as the market leader to win the Jennings Bet Kingwell Hurdle, with Paul Nicholls saddling a runner who has been impressive this season. He kicked off his campaign with a victory at Kempton in October, with the horse then winning at Wincanton a month later. There was no disgrace finishing second behind Constitution Hill at Kempton before a recent outing at Cheltenham.

Fourth place out of five runners might not initially seem impressive, although this was a competitive heat which included odds-on favourite Lossiemouth. Nemean Lion is the second favourite to win this race, with Kerry Lee saddling a seven-year-old who opened his campaign with a win before registering a fifth and a second.

It was a fairly solid performance in the Greatwood Handicap Hurdle to hit the frame before a runner-up performance in the Coral Lanzarote Handicap Hurdle at Kempton Park, with punters likely to find this selection appetising from an each-way point of view. The same applies to Colonel Mustard.

Mrs Lorna Fowler saddles a nine-year-old in the form of Colonel Mustard who has to be considered based on form this season. At Down Royal in November, the horse ran really well when finishing second behind Found A Fifty who was sent off as the odds-on favourite. However, there might need to be a more fluent round of jumping here.

2023 Kingwell Hurdle Tips

First Street finished second in the McCoy Contractors County Handicap Hurdle at the 2022 Cheltenham Festival at 16/1 and has continued to impress over the past twelve months. More recently, the horse was able to score in the Coral Bet Bundles Intermediate Handicap Hurdle at Newbury Racecourse on 26 November, with the runner obliging as the 3/1 joint-favourite.

Finishing third in the Relkeel Hurdle was a fairly solid performance at Cheltenham Racecourse and it is interesting that Knappers Hill finished fourth in that race. The latter is second in the betting market when it comes to this encounter, with eight lengths separating the horses last time out, although Paul Nicholls will be confident of a better run this weekend.

After all, there were wins at Chepstow and Wincanton last autumn before that run at Cheltenham, with Bryony Frost on board the charge who was impressive last season although the runner is carrying two extra pounds compared to the market leader and perhaps some punters will instead warm to I Like To Move It instead.

Nigel Twiston-Davies also ran in the Relkeel Hurdle on New Year’s Day and finished sixth, with the horse previously winning the Unibet Greatwood Handicap Hurdle at odds of 17/2 although the runner was disappointing at Cheltenham in the former race when sent off as the 3/1 favourite, with the connections hoping that this was simply an off day.
