Hong Kong Sprint Betting Odds

There could be as many as sixteen horses lining up for the Hong Kong Sprint, with Ka Ying Rising having racked up a succession of wins and the David A Hayes-trained runner looks set to be the one to beat. There have been seven straight wins and these successes have all come at Sha Tin, with few expecting the horse to be beaten.

Lugal and Toshin Macau are next in the betting and there’s then California Spangle and Helios Express. Look out for a betting market without the favourite if you want more value and there might also be the opportunity to bet on winning distances so you can back the favourite to achieve a victory by a certain margin.

2024 Hong Kong Sprint Tips

Ka Ying Rising has won an impressive seven consecutive races at Sha Tin and it would be a big shock if the four-year-old was beaten in the forthcoming Hong Kong Sprint. In the past two races, the horse has been sent off as the short-priced favourite and the latest success came in the middle of November where there was a three length success in the Jockey Club Sprint.

That came after a previously facile success in the Premier Bowl, with this coming after a 27/20 success in the Chief Executive’s Cup. In June, we saw Ka Ying Rising land the spoils in the Sha Tin Vase, with this coming after a success in the Brandy Snap Handicap. However, customers might be looking elsewhere for a value proposition.

Lugal could produce a strong performance, with the horse having won two of his previous three outings and the latest success came in the Sprinters Stakes. This was a Grade One success at Nakayama, with this coming after finishing well down the order in the Takamatsunomiya Kinen.

Toshin Macau was second to Lugal last time out and this came after a success at Chukyo when winning the Sankei Sho Centaur Stakes, with a half a length victory coming over six furlongs. California Spangle is another horse to watch from an each-way perspective, while Helios Express has also shown promise.

2023 Hong Kong Sprint Tips

Lucky Sweynesse has only won one of three previous encounters, although the bookmakers have installed this horse as the warm favourite to win the 2023 Hong Kong Sprint. In the recent Bochk Private Banking Jockey Club Sprint at Sha Tin, the horse obliged as the odds-on favourite although it was only by a slender margin.

Previously to this, the horse was beaten as the 2/5 favourite in the Premier Bowl at the same racecourse, with the runner chinned at an even shorter price when Victor The Winner was able to claim the spoils. Interestingly, the latter is available at attractive odds to secure a victory here and perhaps there’s merit in an each-way bet.

Highfield Princess and Wellington are both trading as second favourites, with the former having won the Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp Longines over five furlongs when obliging as the 21/10 favourite. This came after previously disappointing as an even money favourite at the Curragh when finishing fifth out of ten runners.

Wellington was the winner of the Hong Kong Sprint last year and the seven-year-old could make experience count when it comes to this latest renewal. The Jamie Richards-trained runner was only beaten by a length when running against Lucky Sweynesse after finishing well down the order in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot.

2022 Hong Kong Sprint Tips

Lucky Sweynesse has already enjoyed five outings at Sha Tin racecourse and it’s easy to see why the four-year-old is trading as the favourite to win the Hong Kong Sprint. After all, the K L Man-trained runner has landed three victories at this racecourse in his career, with the most recent of these being in the Bochk Private Banking Jockey Club Sprint.

The horse obliged as a 7/2 shot in this Group 2 clash and beat rank outsider Lucky Patch by a neck, having finished second in the Premier Bowl at Sha Tin on 23 October and he was sent off as the 7/10 favourite on that occasion. However, we have to respect the winner of that race and Wellington is set to go well in the big one.

Wellington is an Australian-bred horse who won by a length in that Group 2 Handicap. However, the horse was then beaten into sixth by his adversary and four other horses in the most recent Sha Tin outing. It will be interesting to see which of the two rivals are able to come out on top in the Hong Kong International meeting.

Lucky Patch was something of a curveball to finish second in the Jockey Club Sprint and much depends on whether that outcome was a flash in the pan or not. The horse is trading at a much shorter price this time around, with Meikei Yell also likely to be a popular each-way shout and the same applies to Gendarme.

2021 Hong Kong Sprint Betting Tips

The Hong Kong Sprint is a race which has been dominated by five and six-year-olds in recent years, with Mr Stunning winning in 2017 and 2018. These victories were followed by Beat The Clock in 2019 before Danon Smash obliged under the jockeyship of Ryan Moore a year later.

Now comes the 2021 Hong Kong Sprint on 12 December and the bookies have this is as a wide open encounter between some of the fastest horses in the land. Pixie Night is favourite and it’s easy to see why this runner is regarded as the most likely to win. The Hidetaka Otonashi-trained horse won the Sprinters Stakes in October.

This victory took place at Nakayama at the beginning of the month, with this being a two-length victory over six furlongs on good to firm ground. Previously to this, the horse finished second in the Sankei Sho Centaur Stakes on 12 September, with the horse losing by a neck on that occasion although perhaps the horse that won this contest is the betting value.

Resistencia Could Be Each-Way Play in the Hong Kong Sprint

Resistencia is a horse that won the Sankei Sho Centaur Stakes and we’re surprised that you can get odds of around 6/1 that this charge lands victory. The four-year-old is packed with ability and his age is an advantage considering that he has more scope for improvement. The horse is never usually far away and finished second in the Takamatsunomiya Kinen back in the spring.

Lucky Patch is another interesting runner and the horse is bidding for a consecutive hat-trick of wins, with the five-year-old having scooped some notable victories along the way. The New Zealand bred horse claimed victory when triumphing in the Premier Bowl at Sha Tin, with a victory then coming in the Bochk Private Banking Jockey Club Sprint.

Wellington, Courier and Danon Smash are some of the other horses that could be in the reckoning and this seems to be one of the more open Grade 1 races at the meeting. This is set to be an exciting duel over 1,200 metres, with the purse somewhere in the region of HK $22,000,000.

Bet On 2020 Hong Kong Sprint

The Hong Kong Sprint is run over 1,200 metres and Classique Legend is trading around the even money mark to become the latest champion and follow in the footsteps of recent winners Beat The Clock and the famous Mr Stunning who landed a double in 2017 and 2018.

Can Classique Legend Win the Hong Kong Sprint?

Classique Legend is the talking horse going into the big sprint race at Sha Tin Racecourse, with bookmakers such as bet365 and Unibet going odds-on about the runner, although William Hill are prepared to be more aggressive with their prices and they currently offer odds of 7/4.

The horse is clearly highly notable in international racing after winning The Everest and trainer Les Bridge will have the runner primed to run a big race after previously winning The Shorts, with Kerrin McEvoy on board the charge that beat Bivouac Gytrash in that mega money race held at Randwick Racecourse.

Hot King Prawn Bidding to Win in Hong Kong

If Classique Legend is relatively untested when it comes to running at Sha Tin Racecourse, the same can’t be said of Hot King Prawn who has virtually ran exclusively at this track over the past few years, with the six-year-old trading as second favourite in the betting market to land the spoils.

Interestingly, the Size-trained charge went on a run of races without landing a victory, although there was everything to like about the Jockey Club Sprint on 22 November 2020 and this victory in a Group 2 race suggests that the horse can find the sort of improvement to win this encounter.

Computer Patch is a young and talented Australian-bred horse who could run a big race over six furlongs and his sprinting credentials have been on display for all to see when winning a Group 3 Handicap on 1 October 2020, while his recent effort when finishing second behind Hot King Prawn gives him a shot of victory here.
