Sha Tin Racecourse – bet on the Hong Kong International Races

The four most prestigious horse races that are held annually in Hong Kong every year take place at Sha Tin Racecourse, with the Hong Kong Jockey Club hosting the International Races and there is always plenty of interest surrounding the event where some high-class runners compete for large prizes.

The Hong Kong Cup can lay claim to being the world’s richest turf race over 2,000 metres, with this race having its foundations in 1989 when it was originally called the Hong Kong Invitation Cup, although it was originally only open for locally-trained horses before being opened up to overseas runners.

The Hong Kong Cup is a Group 1 race and offers a purse of around HK$25,000,000, with Flying Dancer the first winner of the race in 1988, while Frankie Dettori has been a three-time victor in 2000, 2003 and 2007.

Bet on Hong Kong Mile, Hong Kong Vase and Hong Kong Sprint

The Hong Kong Mile is another high stakes race with a large purse and this race first took place in 1991, with this becoming the world’s richest mile race ten years later and Good Ba Ba secured a consecutive hat-trick in 2007, 2008 and 2009 when winning the race.

Trainer John Moore has been successful by scoring wins in 2011, 2014, 2017 and 2018, with the most recent successes being Beauty Generation.

The Hong Kong Vase has been taking place at Sha Tin Racecourse since 1994 and takes place over 1.5 miles, with the race having held Group 1 status since 2000 and Aidan O’Brien has enjoyed three victories in this classic including a double for Highland Reel in 2015 and 2017.

The Hong Kong Sprint is one of the richest races in the world that is run over 1200m or shorter, with the event now being the final leg of the nine race Global Sprint Challenge series.
