Hong Kong Cup Betting Odds

It’s going to be interesting what price Romantic Warrior ends up in the Hong Kong Cup. The seven-year-old has been performing at a high level this season and trainer C S Shum will be confident of a spirited showing at Sha Tin. The bookies afford a high probability of victory when it comes to this horse and it’s hard to see him beaten.

However, there are some other class horses in the race. That includes Voyage Bubble who has solid credentials and Minnie Hauk is a mare who has had a strong career to date. Beyond this, Bellagio Opera is the other charge who could be in contention although it might simply depend on whether the favourite can turn up and rule the roost.

2025 Hong Kong Cup Betting Tips

The 2025 Hong Kong Cup is a high-profile encounter at Sha Tin Racecourse, with the runners and riders competing over 2,000 metres and it promises to be an exciting encounter. We have to look closely at Romantic Warrior who was a short priced winner last time out. That success came in the Jockey Club Cup over one mile and two furlongs.

However, the horse is beatable and that was in evidence when competing in the Dubai Turf back in April. Sent off at short odds, the favourite was beaten by 14/1 shot Soul Rush, with the runner beaten into second in the Saudi Cup too. Previously to this, there were successes at Sha Tin and Meydan so we have to take this horse seriously.

Voyage Bubble was only a length and a half behind Romantic Warrior recently and could be capable of reversing the outcome in this clash. The horse was previously underwhelming when finishing well down the order at Sha Tin although there was a smart win back in May when the runner was able to achieve Group One success.

Minnie Hauk is an Irish raider who will have a mares’ allowance and there was a Breeders’ Cup meeting in November, with the filly sent off as the 6/4 favourite before only finishing sixth over one mile and four furlongs. The runner did well in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe when finishing second after being sent off as 5/2 market leader.

2024 Hong Kong Cup Tips

Romantic Warrior is the odds-on favourite to land a victory which would make it a consecutive hat-trick in the Hong Kong Cup. The latest success came at Sha Tin in mid November where the Danny Shum Chap-shing-trained charge was able to land a victory by over four lengths when being sent off as the heavy favourite.

Previously to this, there was a bright showing in June in a more competitive encounter, with seventeen runners fended off in the Yasuda Kinen when being sent off as favourite. On that occasion, there was a half length success in a field of eighteen runners and that came after an odds-on success in the QEII Cup over one mile and two furlongs.

Liberty Island might be the closest contender to Romantic Warrior, with the former having been disappointing in the Group One Tenno Sho although connections are expecting an improved showing this time around. Last year, she was the Fillies’ Triple Crown winner although it’s been an injury-hit 2024 which has been far from ideal.

Mitsumasa Nakauchida is expecting to see the best of his horse when the mare lines up here, although the trainer claims that the favourite is the best in the world over 2,000 metres. It will be interesting to see what bearing the draw has on the competition, with Tastiera and Zirar.

2022 Hong Kong Cup Tips

Romantic Warrior boasts an impressive track record and the four-year-old was last seen winning the Bochk Jockey Club Cup, with the four-year-old fending off his older opponents to claim a victory over one mile and two furlongs. He was able to enjoy a victory by over a length against Tourbillon Diamond, with Senor Toba also in this race.

The CS Shum-trained runner has won eight times in a highly successful career to date, with many of these victories coming at Sha Tin racecourse. You can understand why he’s heading the market for this encounter, having won the FWD QEII Cup at Sha Tin on 24 April which was another Group 1 victory under his belt.

However, Kenichi Fujioka could have a superstar on his hands in the form of Jack d’Or and the Japanese raider has been the subject of a gamble ahead of the 2022 Hong Kong Cup. A fourth-placed finish was credible enough last time out when running in the prestigious Tenno Sho, with Equinox delivering a masterful performance on that occasion.

What was eye-catching was Jack d’Or’s victory in the Sapporo Kinen where the horse was able to win by a neck over Panthalassa, with the latter deserving of plenty of respect considering that outing. Second in the Tenno Sho means that this runner can’t be discounted from the shortlist.

2021 Hong Kong Cup Betting Tips

Normcore was the 2020 winner of the Hong Kong Cup at Sha Tin, with the five-year-old landing the spoils twelve months after Win Bright had done the same thing. It means that there have been back-to-back Japanese-bred winners of this Group 1 encounter and it will be interesting to see if this country can continue their recent dominance.

Loves Only You currently heads the market and will fly the flag for Japan, with the bookies making this the standout horse in the betting according to the latest odds. Yoshito Yahagi looks to have a potential superstar on his hands, with the runner most recently lining up in America and winning the Maker's Mark Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf.

The horse claimed victory over one mile and three furlongs, with horses such as My Sister Nat and War Like Goddess following closely behind, while there was previously a runner-up performance in the Sapporo Kinen when narrowly being edged out by winner Sodashi in that particular encounter.

Who Can Beat Loves Only You in this Race?

There is an Irish challenger making the trip to the Hong Kong International racing Meeting for this race and Dubai Honour looks to have serious credentials. William Haggas will hope that the three-year-old can continue to improve at a rate of knots, with the horse seen most recently where we saw an impressive performance at Ascot.

The Qipco Champion Stakes is about a classy an encounter as you can have on the UK racing circuit and the horse finished second behind Sealiway, although runners such as Mishriff and Adayar were left trailing in the horse’s wake, with the Hong Kong Cup now the target for this runner.

Previously to this race, Dubai Honour claimed victory at Longchamp when winning the Qatar Prix Dollar, with the horse obliging at odds of 5/2 and seeing off Magny Cours in the final run-in. There was also a triumph at Deauville when winning the Prix Guillaume d'Ornano - Haras du Logis Saint-Germain.

2020 Hong Kong Cup betting odds

Sha Tin Racecourse plays host to the Hong Kong Cup and we’re intrigued by this heat, with several horses trading at single figure odds with some of the leading bookies and it’s interesting to see how the betting will change in the lead up to the off.

Can Magical Land a Victory in the Hong Kong Cup?

Magical is something of a superstar already and this would be an enormous victory if the Aidan O’Brien-trained charge can arrive in Hong Kong and claim victory in this race, although it wouldn’t be out of character for a horse who has performed so well during his career.

The five-year-old has already landed so many victories, with his most recent outing being at Keeneland, with Magical finishing second in the Breeders’ Cup Turf race and he was just a length behind winner Tarnawa and now has his sights set on landing the spoils.

Magical ran at Royal Ascot in the summer when finishing third in the Champion Stakes and his most recent success came in the Irish Champion Stakes, with O’Brien likely to have this horse primed for a big run.

Furore and Danon Premium Among Favourites for HK Cup

Furore is a New Zealand raider who will line up for the Hong Kong Cup with a glowing reputation and two recent victories at Sha Tin illustrate that the six-year-old is bang in contention to win this race, with trainer A S Cruz having a good record when it comes to this racecourse.

Furore won the Sa Sa Ladies’ Purse when beating Exultant and he beat his stablemate at the same track in the Group 2 Jockey Club Cup, with plenty of money coming for the horse leading up to the event.

Danon Premium is the big hope from Japan and the five-year-old recently impressed when finishing in fourth place in the Tenno Sho over one mile and two furlongs, with the horse not behind eventual winner Almond Eye.
