There are many horses who can potentially win, with Aworkinprogress having secured a number of wins. Aworkinprogress runs for Nick Gifford and the six-year-old has been a winning machine ahead of this race. In mid-November, there was a success at Uttoxeter. The even money shot fended off three other horses, with that coming after a triple success at Lingfield Racecourse. There was also a quality performance at Stratford.

Tanganyika will line up for Venetia Williams and the horse performed adequately when finishing fifth out of ten runners at Cheltenham last time out. That came over three miles, three and a half furlongs, with the horse previously running well at Uttoxeter. That was in the Midlands Grand National when the runner missed out by a single length.

O’Connell is a nine-year-old whose experience might come to the fore. The horse last finished third out of nine horses at Carlisle in early November, with the charge having performed well at Newcastle when landing a runner-up spot out of seventeen. There was an early February victory at Sandown Park after previously obliging at Market Rasen.

Ask Brewster has been in the winners’ enclosure on three consecutive occasions. Evan Williams trains a six-year-old who was last seen obliging at Chepstow. The horse won over nearly three miles when enjoying a four-length success, with this coming after an April triumph at Cheltenham Racecourse. There was also a March win at Chepstow.

2023 London National Handicap Chase Tips

City Chief was fourth in a thirteen-runner race at Cheltenham back in November, with the horse sent off as the 4/1 favourite before struggling to stay the three mile, three and a half furlong trip. The horse might struggle to therefore last the distance this time around, although the runner did land wins at Hereford and Wetherby earlier in the year.

Beauport was fifth out of eleven runners in the Gold Cup Handicap Chase at Ascot Racecourse, with this race taking place in early November. It was a fairly solid performance over three miles, with the horse having previously fallen in the William Hill Handicap Chase at Aintree Racecourse in the middle of April.

Fontaine Collonges could be well-handicapped and it will be interesting to see what sort of shape the horse is in on a seasonal reappearance. The eight-year-old was pulled up at Cheltenham last time out and was never really travelling, although we should note that there was a handicap chase win at Haydock Park a year ago.

Broken Halo and Certainly Red are backable each-way prices, with the former having finished well down the order at Sandown Racecourse at the end of April, with some brighter performances coming in February and March at the same course. Certainly Red was fourth out of eleven runners at Wincanton Racecourse and could be set for an improvement.
