Astrazar was also in the winners' enclosure on two occasions last season, with Lost Signal a horse that should also go well at Musselburgh. The Richard Hannon-trained horse returns after a lengthy absence but notched a couple of notable wins. Amorim and Pandemonium also have cases for being in the final shake-up and it should be an intriguing encounter.

2026 Royal Mile Handicap Betting Tips

The Royal Mile Handicap will feature fourteen runners and any number of horses can land a victory. Crown Office has been made the market leader and there was a smart win at Leicester back in October. The 8/15 favourite won a six furlong maiden stakes race, with that being a three length success on soft ground. Previously to that came a solid effort at York in September.

Comic Hero is trained by Andrew Balding and the horse took well to the all-weather track at Kempton in February. Sent off as the 1/2 favourite, the runner didn't miss over seven furlongs after some previously solid efforts as a juvenile. In a restricted novice stakes race, the runner was touched off by a nose and could be a strong contender here.

McMurray is our idea of a great each-way bet. After all, this George Boughey-trained competitor enjoyed a consecutive hat-trick of wins last season. There was an August success at Ffos Las, with that being followed by a September victory at Doncaster. The 6/4 favourite hit the mark in a nursery handicap and there was a good effort at Yarmouth after that.

Astrazar runs for Ed Walker and the juvenile season was a strong one. The horse really caught the eye at the Knavesmire when finishing fourth in a huge field at big odds of 33/1. Since then, the runner has achieved successes at Ffos Las and York. In the British £100,000 EBF Final, the horse made amends for a slow start to land a smart victory.

2025 Royal Mile Handicap Tips

Invited could be the winner of the first race at Musselburgh on Saturday. The horse has been successful in his previous two outings and George Boughey will be confident of another triumph. There was a success on the all-weather at Kempton Park at the end of March, with this coming after a win at Southwell back in January.

Castle Stuart was disappointing in a previous outing when finishing dead last at Pontefract. However, there was a victory at Hamilton in August and a repeat of that performance could be enough to go close. That was a six-length success although some might overlook this horse in favour of a bigger-priced selection.

Zowal has the track record of winning at Musselburgh and there was a success at this course in early April, with the horse winning by a length and a quarter on that occasion. John & Sean Quinn saddles a runner who was previously successful in France and there could be a meteoric rise from a charge who clearly has plenty of potential.

William Haggas has Sir William in the race and the horse returns to the track after a few months. Previously, there was a fifth-placed finish out of ten horses at York in October. That came after finishing second out of a field of eight at Haydock Park. The horse is yet to land the spoils in any race, with Wiltshire Lad the standout performer last time out.

2024 Royal Mile Handicap Tips

All six runners have a lively chance of landing a victory when it comes to the Virgin Bet Royal Mile Handicap, with Individualism trading as the favourite and there is plenty to recommend the Charlie Johnston-trained runner. Joe Fanning will be on board a horse who is carrying 8-12, although there could be some each-way value in going for an alternative pick.

Individualism finished fifth out of thirteen runners in his previous outing, with this being preceded by a second-placed finish at Ayr out of eleven runners. The fact that the horse hasn’t yet posted a victory means that Ice Max could be a better alternative. The runner has previously scored wins at Catterick.

Berkshire Nugget was dead last out of four horses at Chester last time out and this came after a solid showing at the Roodee when the runner was able to finish fourth in a field of twelve horses. His career started out with a fourth-placed finish out of ten runners at Newmarket Racecourse.

Johnny Ringo hasn’t been out of the first two in his three appearances to date. There was a second placed finish at Musselburgh out of six runners, with an impressive showing at Redcar. There was a victory on the all-weather at Newcastle back in November and there could be more to come from this runner.

2023 Royal Mile Handicap Tips

Urban Sprawl might not be the highest-rated horse in this Royal Mile encounter at Musselburgh, although punters are coming for a runner who goes off a mark of 8-13 and perhaps he’s the one to beat. The horse landed the spoils when last season by scoring at Ascot in early September and there were some good opponents beaten on that occasion.

Previously to this, there was a triumph at Sandown Park in the Twickenham Nursery Handicap and there’s a feeling that the handicapper hasn’t been strict enough with the weight afforded, although Captain Winters is also likely to be a popular selection and Kevin Ryan had saddled the horse to some impressive performances as a two-year-old.

Manitou was on target twice last season before finishing seventh in his previous race, although there was a success at Chepstow Racecourse at the end of August before a victory at Bro Park in September. Despite being sent off as the 7/5 favourite to win at Chantilly in the Prix Saraca, there was a lowly finish on that occasion.

Benacre is another Charlie Johnston-trained runner who has secured consecutive victories at both Epsom and Goodwood, with the former win occurring over seven furlongs and that was a fairly facile victory, while the latter victory was in October and it will be interesting to see whether the horse can perform at the same level when asked to go a furlong further.
