Edinburgh National Handicap Chase Betting Odds

The going is good to soft at Musselburgh Racecourse this weekend, with the Edinburgh National Handicap Chase being the fifth race out of seven when it comes to Sunday's card. The runners and riders battle it out over three miles, seven and a half furlongs, with a strong test of staying ability required in order to land a place in the winners' enclosure.

There are twenty-four fences to be negotiated, with Rock My Way running for Joe Tizzard and one of his performances this term has resulted in a victory. Grozni was also a winner last time out and could go well for Scottish trainer Sandy Thomson. At a similar price, Transmission is worthy of each-way consideration although recent evidence isn't compelling.

2026 Edinburgh National Handicap Chase Betting Tips

Rock My Way was last seen running in the Welsh Grand National at Chepstow Racecourse. The horse was eighth out of seventeen horses, with the 11/2 shot unable to stay the long distance although the runner has been installed as favourite for the Edinburgh National Handicap Chase. There was a November success at Ascot when obliging in a long-distance chase.

Grozni was a December winner at Kelso and the 22/1 shot surprised a lot of punters with a big impression over four miles. The horse demonstrated excellent stamina on soft ground and is our idea of the winner. This came after disappointing efforts at the same track, although the horse had previously fared well at Ayr in April.

Transmission has had three outings this season and hasn't come close to landing a victory. Neil Mulholland's nine-year-old was last seen running at Ascot during the festive season. The horse was ten lengths off the pace in the Silver Cup Handicap Chase, with this coming after being some distance behind the winner at Cheltenham a month previously.

Forged Well was a winner in a previous showing, with Martin Todhunter training a horse who was able to win at Musselburgh in December. The runner obliged by nearly five lengths and it was a good comeback after falling at Ayr in November. The win in Scotland came over nearly three miles and more stamina is required to win this one.

2024 Edinburgh National Handicap Chase Tips

The oldest horse in this race could be the one that goes off favourite, with Truckers Lodge potentially the one to beat in the bet365 Edinburgh National Handicap Chase. The twelve-year-old is the top-weighted horse, although there’s no doubting the class of a runner who won at Sandown in December over three miles, four and a half furlongs.

The horse was one of several runners pulled up in the Welsh Grand National and should benefit from better ground this time around, with Landen Calling bidding for a third success this season. Fergal O’Brien saw his charge land a victory at Market Rasen on Boxing Day when the eight-year-old obliged as an outsider.

Inis Oirr hasn’t recorded a win this season although the seven-year-old has been respected by the layers and Lucinda Russell could engineer a strong performance from this horse. The horse finished fifth in the race that Landen Calling won over the festive season, with the runner having recently finished second out of ten runners at Musselburgh in November.

Magna Sam could be another horse to keep onside, with the horse running for the lesser-known Alastair Ralph. The ten-year-old goes off a weight of 10-13 and finished seventh in a previous outing at Musselburgh Racecourse when finishing a long way behind Half Shot although the horse has secured the spoils at Musselburgh within the past twelve months.
