The 2024 Sovereign Handicap Hurdle will feature a number of runners lining up at single figure horse racing betting odds. This includes Doddiethegreat who is a talented eight-year-old running for Nicky Henderson, with the horse claiming a win at Ascot back in November before a second placed finish out of twelve runners at Cheltenham in mid-December.

Go Dante was able to win that particular race and the eight-year-old could be the one to side with on this occasion, with Olly Murphy hoping that the runner benefits from a three pound weight allowance compared to his rival. Spirit D’Aunou is carrying altogether more weight although the five-year-old looks to be a backable each-way price.

The five-year-old was able to oblige at Sandown Park back in December when achieving a three and a half length victory over two miles, with the Gary Moore-trained charge previously finishing fourth in the Masterson Holdings Hurdle over two miles and half a furlong when being sent off as the 7/4 favourite.

Gary Moore has another lively competitor in the form of Hansard, with the six-year-old having landed a victory at Newbury in early December, with this coming after finishing fifth out of nine runners in the Betfair Exchange Trophy at the end of December. It was a competitive race and there could certainly be more to come here.
