There’s an intriguing encounter on Saturday when the William Hill Chartwell Fillies' Stakes is run and there could be any number of horses who can land a victory. There are three horses trading at particularly short odds and the favourite is likely to be Cathedral. Ralph Beckett saddles a three-year-old who makes a seasonal debut this weekend.

Jabaara has a couple of runs under his belt this term and the four-year-old is highly regarded, although the horse is among the top weights in the field. Cathedral has been a stellar performer in his career thus far, with the horse potentially favourite to win the William Hill Chartwell Fillies' Stakes. Last time out, the runner was sent off as the 3/1 favourite before finishing second out of ten horses. Previously to this, there was a success at Lingfield Park where a four and a half length success was achieved.

Jabaara is a year older and Roger Varian trains a horse who was sixth out of eight horses at Keeneland last time out. However, this was a high quality race and he certainly wasn’t disgraced in the Jenny Wiley Stakes which was a Grade One encounter. This came after a midfield finish at Wolverhampton Racecourse and he’s among the market leaders.

Spiritual is not without a chance and the four-year-old has had plenty of outings already, with the horse finishing third out of five runners at Newmarket at the end of September. This came after landing fourth spot of out a field of nine at Sandown Park, with John & Thady Gosden saddling a horse who has bags of experience.

Then we have Fair Angellica who finished fifth on his seasonal debut, with the horse finishing fifth out of seven runners on that occasion. The charge was fourth out of eleven and it was a smart enough performance in mid-September. However, what was really striking was a victory at Deauville and that win came in early July.

Sacred is an interesting runner who catches the eye on the Lingfield racecard, with the five-year-old having finished second last time out in a competitive race at Newmarket. A second-placed finish behind Pogo was fairly strong on good ground after being sent off as the 13/8 favourite, with a question mark over this filly after hanging right in this most recent encounter.

In the Dubai Duty Free Stakes, Sacred was able to claim a victory and this was a really striking performance considering the horse won by six and a half lengths, with Tom Marquand on board a runner who was midfield in previous encounters at York and Goodwood, with Sandrine also standing out in the betting.

Andrew Balding saw the four-year-old run under par at Longchamp last autumn when the charge finished second last although we should bear in mind that this was a competitive Qatar Prix de la Foret which included favourite and winner Kinross, with the horse not taking particularly well to the very soft ground that came up that day.
