Christmas Hurdle Betting Odds

The Ladbrokes Christmas Hurdle is a huge National Hunt race taking place at Kempton Park on Boxing Day, with a small field including some notable names. This Grade 1 encounter could be all about a battle between Constitution Hill and Lossiemouth, with the latter having the mares’ allowancwe when it comes to this showdown.

Constitution Hill has had a few injury problems recently, although the Nicky Henderson-trained charge has previously been an aeroplane and we might see a return to form for the seven-year-old. We might also see Sir Gino breaking through and the four-year-old is clearly progressive with a chance to upset the applecart.

2024 Christmas Hurdle Tips

We could essentially have a three-horse race when it comes to the Ladbrokes Christmas Hurdle at Kempton Park on Boxing Day. Lossiemouth has been racking up the wins, with the mare able to score at Fairyhouse at the beginning of December when landing a success over two miles and four furlongs, with this being a stiffer test.

However, the Willie Mullins-trained charge is on a massive winning run, with the horse previously scoring a seven-length success and that came after a success at the Cheltenham Festival when obliging in the Mares’ Hurdle at the 8/13 favourite. However, this could be a difficult assignment against Constitution Hill and perhaps the latter is set for a win.

The Nicky Henderson-trained charge looked invincible when scoring a succession of victories earlier in his career, with a nine-length success coming in the 2023 Champion Hurdle before obliging at Aintree. There was then a success in the Christmas Hurdle twelve months ago although injury has proven a setback and we don’t know whether the horse will still be at his imperious best.

If the front two somehow struggle to score in this race, then perhaps Sir Gino will steal the victory and the four-year-old can’t be easily discounted. This is another horse from the Nicky Henderson stable, with the horse claiming a notable success when winning by eight lengths at Newcastle at the end of November.

2022 Christmas Hurdle Tips

Flooring Porter has only won two of his past seven encounters. However, those two successes came at the Cheltenham Festival where the Gavin Cromwell-trained runner scored successes in the 2021 and 2022 Stayers Hurdle. Aside from that, there have been no recent wins although the bookies have the horse as favourite.

Flooring Porter was fourth in the recent Railway Bar Lismullen Hurdle, with the horse being beaten by three other horses and that includes winner Home By The Lee. Bob Olinger was also finishing ahead of the two-time Stayers Hurdle champion, with the Henry de Bromhead-trained runner landing second spot.

It was hard to make head or tail of Bob Olinger’s performance when winning the Turners Novices’ Chase considering there were only three other contenders in the race. Being pulled up at Punchestown was a red flag although the horse’s more recent outing suggests a return to form. It doesn’t explain why Home By The Lee is an even bigger price.

As for Klassical Dream, it has been two consecutive second-placed finishes and the eight-year-old produced a solid performance in the Bar One Racing Hatton's Grace Hurdle when actually beating Honeysuckle. He was beaten by a neck by Teahupoo although that performance suggests he will have his backers when it comes to this festive encounter.
