Peter Marsh Handicap Chase Betting Odds

The betting market for the Peter Marsh Handicap Chase looks wide open, with the runners and riders battling it out over three miles, one and a half furlongs. Konfusion has secured three victories in the space of four outings, with the eight-year-old's form meaning he's installed as the favourite to win. He's marginally ahead of the others in the betting.

The problem for Myretown has been staying on his feet. However, a clean round of jumping often sees the horse claim a victory. At a slightly bigger price, Mr Vango has shown a winning mentality and returned to the track this season to finish second. Also among the favourites is Johnnywho who is yet to win this term.

2026 Peter Marsh Handicap Chase Betting Tips

We're excited for the Sky Bet Peter Marsh Handicap Chase on Saturday which is the fourth race on a seven-race card at Haydock Park. There are fifteen runners set to go to post, with Konfusion having earned three victories in the space of four races this term. The latest effort came on Boxing Day at Wetherby where a seven length success was enjoyed.

Previously to this, there was a late November success at Newcastle where the horse won by a staggering fifteen length victory. The week before, the charge had unseated his rider although there had previously been a triumph at Wetherby. The winning record means that we're happy to strongly consider the Joel Parkinson & Sue Smith-trained charge.

Myretown has bags of ability, with the nine-year-old often struggling to stay on his feet. The horse was favourite at Newbury at the end of November before falling. However, there was an impressive display at Cheltenham Festival when winning the Ultima Handicap Chase over three miles and one furlong by eleven lengths.

Mr Vango has clocked up plenty of successes in recent times. In December 2024, there was a win at Sandown Park before obliging in January at Haydock Park. Then came a Midlands Grand National triumph at Uttoxeter, with a one-length success over four miles and two furlongs. Then came a runner-up spot in the Becher Handicap Chase at Aintree recently.

Sara Bradstock could train the betting favourite when it comes to the Peter Marsh Handicap Chase, with Mr Vango having landed a victory last time out. This came at Sandown Park in early December, with the 3/1 shot obliging over three miles, four and a half furlongs. This suggests that this trip shouldn’t be an issue for the market leader.

Royale Pagaille can’t be discounted and this horse runs in the familiar colours of Rich Ricci, with Venetia Williams training a runner who generally tends to land a victory or is alternatively pulled up. The eleven-year-old was able to fend off Grey Dawning last time out to win the Betfair Chase.

Trelawne is a nine-year-old who has posted a victory this term, with this coming when finishing fourth out of eight runners at Ascot. This came after a victory in the Betfair Exchange Graduation Chase, with favourite Iroko beaten by half a length and there could be more to come back at Haydock Park.

Imagine was pulled up on his seasonal debut although Harry Derham trains a seven-year-old who could be open to progress. That run in November came after a long lay-off and that Cheltenham run could help to bring him on for this Haydock showdown. Gelino Bello also stands a chance for Paul Nicholls.

2024 Peter Marsh Handicap Chase Tips

Royale Pagaille certainly boasts plenty of class and the ten-year-old is the current market leader to win this race at Haydock Park. There was everything to like about his win in the Betfair Chase at the same course, with the horse claiming a surprise victory ahead of odds-on favourite Bravemansgame, with the winning distance being over six lengths.

Venetia Williams will be confident of a similar display this time around, with Monbeg Genius also available at similar betting odds. The horse was third when last making an appearance, with the eight-year-old putting up a sturdy performance when hitting the frame in the Coral Gold Cup Handicap Chase over three miles and two furlongs.

We should therefore be confident that Monbeg Genius will get the trip over three miles, one and a half furlongs. Famous Bridge is another one for the shortlist and the Nicky Richards-trained runner has secured back to back victories, with both of these successes coming at Haydock Park which means he’s bidding for a three-timer.

Sent off as the 5/2 favourite in the Tommy Whittle Handicap Chase, there was a one length victory on heavy ground, with this coming after a one length win in a previous handicap chase where the horse demonstrated his staying power. Considering that the runner has proven course and distance, this is definitely a candidate to weigh up.

2023 Peter Marsh Chase Tips

Fontaine Collonges ran into a credible fourth place in a handicap chase at Kempton Park on 27 December, with Venetia Williams’ charge having lost his place during the race but finished the encounter strongly. Previously to this, there was a win at Haydock where the charge was able to secure a victory over three miles and one furlong to demonstrate staying power on soft ground.

Sam Brown runs for trainer Anthony Honeyball, with the horse wowing the crowd at the Grand National meeting last April when winning the Betway Handicap Chase. Sent off at 28/1, the horse was regarded as something of a no-hoper, although it was an impressive fifteen-length win and the horse then ran well when finishing third in the Charlie Hall Chase.

However, the horse finished well down the pecking order in the Boylesports Many Clouds Chase, with Bristol De Mai coming to the track to compete in a race which he won six years previously. Nigel Twiston-Davies’ horse has been respected by the layers and the horse needs to find considerable improvement on his showing in the Betfair Chase.

Dusart is an interesting runner who runs for Nicky Henderson and this is another runner that needs to find improvement, with the horse sent off as the 9/4 favourite for the recent Citipost Handicap Hurdle before coming well down the order. French Paradoxe has either won or fallen in his past four races.
