That was on good ground and came after a fourth-placed finish in a field of fourteen when competing in a handicap chase over two miles, six and a half furlongs.

Dartmoor Pirate has secured consecutive successes and we're expecting the seven-year-old to run another big race here. Anthony Honeyball trains a horse who was last seen obliging at Doncaster at the end of January. That victory in the Great Yorkshire Chase was achieved by nearly four lengths, with that coming over three miles on soft ground.

Jasmin De Grugy was a faller for Anthony Honeyball last time out and it will be interesting to see if the horse can recover from that New Year's Day encounter at Cheltenham. Previously to that, there was a fourth-placed effort in a field of eight in the Rehearsal Handicap Chase at Newcastle. The horse also ran well into second at Punchestown at the beginning of May.

Kelce was a winner in a previous showing and the eight-year-old could kick on and run well for Neil Mulholland. The horse was able to score at Musselburgh at the end of January when seeing off six other runners. The 15/8 favourite ran well over nearly three miles and that came after a Boxing Day effort at Aintree when finishing second.

2025 Grimthorpe Chase Tips

It’s hard to find the winner of the Grimthorpe Handicap Chase at Doncaster on Saturday, although we definitely need to find a horse who is able to stay the three miles and two furlongs. Some Scope ticks a lot of boxes, with the seven-year-old having pulled up at Cheltenham back in January, although that came after a Boxing Day win at Wetherby.

Hymac was able to land a victory at Newton Abbott at the end of October before an encouraging showing at Cheltenham a month later when finishing third out of ten runners. The latest effort came during the festive period where Hymac was able to to finish second in the Coral Mandarin Handicap Chase and this could be a good each-way shout.

Weveallbeencaught is another potential winner of the Grimthorpe Handicap Chase, with Nigel Twiston-Davies seeing his charge land a victory last time out. That came at Doncaster at the end of January which is a great pointer, especially as the win was achieved over three miles. There was previously a solid showing at Kempton.

White Rhino unseated his rider last time out, with the nine-year-old having previously landed a victory at Haydock. This came by four and a half lengths at the beginning of December, with a success at Ayr in early November also boding well for a charge who has generally finished in the frame throughout his career.

2024 Grimthorpe Handicap Chase Tips

Some Scope is the horse that they all might have to beat in the Grimthorpe Handicap Chase, with the runner boasting the strongest credentials. The charge looks to be favourably handicapped to make it a consecutive hat-trick of wins, with the six-year-old having enjoyed back to back successes and punters might be keen to back this runner.

There was a triumph at Doncaster at the end of January when the horse obliged by seven and a half lengths, with this coming after a win at Catterick back in November. Richard Hobson will be glad that the handicapper hasn’t been too severe, although there are several other contenders in the field including Undersupervision.

The latter has been pulled up twice this season although perhaps he will be suited to the conditions at Doncaster over three miles and two furlongs. In between the two flops was a credible third-placed finish at Cheltenham in November, with that coming at betting odds of 18/1 in a big field of runners.

Java Point scored for Henry Oliver last time out and the nine-year-old is another one for the shortlist, with a victory at Sandown Park coming against seven other runners.
