Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle Betting Odds
We've been enjoying this handicap hurdle race since 2009 when Andytown was able to secure the spoils, with this being the last chance to back a winner at the Cheltenham Festival. Gordon Elliott has enjoyed plenty of recent success in this race, saddling Better Days Ahead and Wodhooh to a victory in the previous couple of years.

More Horses
2026 Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle Betting Tips It’s certainly a handicap race where the betting market will take shape as we get nearer to the off. French Ship certainly has claims and this is a horse trained by Philip Hobbs and Johnson White. There was a notable win at Newbury at the end of November, with the 11/4 poke able to fend off fourteen other rivals to claim a success over two miles, four and a half furlongs.
Previously to that, there was a Cheltenham win over two miles and four furlongs. In a field of twenty, the horse ran on well to claim the victory at 6/1, with this being a success by nearly four lengths.
Willie Mullins has enjoyed plenty of success in this race and perhaps the Irish handler will strike again with Storm Heart. The horse had a festive run at Limerick when fending off three opponents to oblige at 7/4 and that came after a second-placed effort at Leopardstown. In a two-mile handicap hurdle, the horse was a strong performer on soft ground.
Mullins might also have Zillow lining up, with the six-year-old potentially coming to the peak of his powers here. At the end of November, there was a victory at Fairyhouse when obliging in a ten-runner field by a promising distance. That came after an October success on the all-weather at Dundalk and there was also a September success at Kilbeggan.
2025 Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle Tips The Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle is a fitting way to end the 2025 Cheltenham Festival, with the runners and riders battling it out over two miles and four furlongs. In previous years, we have seen winners kick on and claim bigger successes, including Galopin Des Champs who has been a two-time Gold Cup winner.
As for the 2025 renewal, Wodhooh has emerged as the favourite and there was a success at Cheltenham in the middle of December when obliging at odds of 10/1. There was lots to like about the fillies’ success in the BetMGM Mares’ Hurdle when beating favourite Joyuese by nearly two lengths, although we like the look of Karniquet.
It would come as no surprise if Willie Mullins was the winning trainer of the final race of the Festival, with the five-year-old producing an excellent performance when finishing second out of ten horses at Leopardstown last time out. He was thirteen lengths behind Kopek Des Bordes in the Ireland Novice Hurdle and that form could end up looking strong.
Vischio has been able to produce some solid performances in his career to date, with the horse scoring a five-length success as an 8/1 shot over two miles and two furlongs. This came after a November triumph at Punchestown, with the bookies offering extra price boosts and there are likely to be enhanced places available.
2024 Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle Tips There’s a typically wide open look about the betting market for the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle, with Sa Majeste the early favourite for the race. However, we should expect plenty of price movement as we get closer to the off, with the Willie Mullins-trained charge having won against three rivals last time out including Noble Yeats.
That was a triumph by four and a half lengths, with the victory coming over two miles, four furlongs on heavy ground. It therefore stands to reason that Sa Majeste will want lots of cut in the ground and the same applies to Iberico Lord who runs for Nicky Henderson. There was a stunning victory for the horse last time out and there could be more fireworks here.
The six-year-old was able to claim a victory against twenty other runners when winning the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury Racecourse over two miles, half a furlong. This was on heavy ground, with the horse landing a return at 11/2 and he’s trading at a similar price to Mistergif who is a five-year-old who could land Willie Mullins a final winner.
Mullins is likely to be top trainer at the Cheltenham Festival and his five-year-old is one of several runners who might cap off what is likely to be a successful meeting for the legendary Irish handler. He saw this charge land a victory at Limerick at the end of January and that came after a long lay-off, with punters recommended to watch out for odds movement on the day.
2023 Martin Pipe Hurdle Betting Tips Much depends on the handicaps and which horse is most favourably weighted for this encounter, with Spanish Harlem carrying 11-2 and perhaps this is the runner to back each-way for the Martin Pipe on Gold Cup day. The five-year-old was beaten as the odds-on favourite at Thurles last time out and he was also chinned by Three Card Brag before that.
Perhaps Three Card Brag is the horse to therefore consider and Gordon Elliott has a stack of horses who are competing in this finale, with the six-year-old having multiple entries although his price is sure to shorten significantly if the runner is able to produce the same level of performance that we saw at Fairyhouse.
American Mike hasn’t been outside the top four in any of his four races this season although he was second last to Hunters Yarn at Navan in mid-February, with the horse struggling to build on an impressive second to Facile Vega in last year’s Cheltenham Festival Bumper, with other Gordon Elliott-trained runners preferred.
These include Cool Survivor who has landed a couple of wins this year and the horse ran a relative blinder when finishing fourth at 25/1 in the Novice Hurdle at the Dublin Racing Festival, with there being more to come from a runner who looks a decent each-way shout at the early prices. Make sure you compare the latest racing odds before going ahead with your wagers.
Langer Dan is a six-year-old who hasn’t been seen at a racecourse this season and that adds an element of doubt as to how he will perform. On the flip side, the horse won the 2021 Imperial Cup at Sandown Park before coming narrowly close to securing a big million double in the Martin Pipe and Skelton appears focused on trying to make this happen in 2022.
This is only a little horse who was able to win the Imperial Cup by four and a half lengths, with the runner being desperately unlucky to run into a horse like Galopin Des Champs considering that the latter has gone from strength to strength during the 2021-22 National Hunt season.
Chemical Energy runs for Gordon Elliott and there is plenty to recommend a horse that was last seen at a racecourse when claiming a Fairyhouse victory in a Novices Hurdle over the festive season. That was over two miles and four furlongs, with the horse being a potentially strong each-way bet to land the spoils here.
Saint Felicien is another interesting contender and it will be good to get enhanced place terms when it comes to the Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle. This is a five-year-old who has no Cheltenham experience, although the horse could only finish second to Darasso in the BetVictor Limestone Lad Hurdle.
If you haven’t backed any winners at the Cheltenham Festival 2020 at this point, then you only have one chance left and that comes in the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle .
This is the final race of the 2020 meeting, with the race having been in operation since 2009, with Andytown winning the first ever heat, while recent winners have been Champagne Classic, Blow By Blow and Early Doors.
The hurdle race takes place over two miles and four furlongs, with Willie Mullins proving the most successful trainer thus far thanks to saddling Sir Des Champs, Don Poli and Killultagh Vic over the years.
Trainer Gavin Cromwell had a winner for JP McManus last year and perhaps it will be the same story this time around, with Ilikedwayurthinkin likely to trade among the favourites and the six-year-old put on an impressive showing at Leopardstown over Christmas.
The horse finished fifth on soft ground against a decent field of horses, with Barry Geraghty likely to be on board and the big question is to how the runner is going to adapt to Cheltenham considering he has never run there before.
Column Of Fire runs for Gordon Elliott, with the six-year-old having enjoyed a successful season and the latest performance saw the horse finish third out of a field of twenty-eight horses.
Jack Kennedy was on board the 5/1 favourite at the time, with Davy Russell having previously won at even money when landing a Maiden Hurdle victory over two miles and four furlongs at Punchestown.
There are other horses that could be in contention, with The Bosses Oscar another Gordon Elliott charge who is five-years-old and the horse hasn’t been out of the top two this season.
A victory at Leopardstown during the Christmas break was a highlight and that Maiden Hurdle win was followed by a second-placed finish in a Novice Hurdle at Thurles.
