Rowland Meyrick Handicap Chase Betting Odds

The Rowland Meyrick Handicap Chase is the fourth race out of seven on the Wetherby card this Boxing Day, with eleven horses duking it out over three miles. Konfusion has run very smartly this season, landing a victory either side of unseating his rider. However, Marble Sands was able to score on a seasonal debut and looks a worthy adversary.

David Killahena & Graeme McPherson will hope their horse can come on from that performance, with Knappers Hill another nine-year-old whose chances need to be respected. There are a few horses trading at around the 8/1 mark and that includes Butch who runs for Olly Murphy and there's some interest in Jungle Boogie.

2025 Rowland Meyrick Handicap Chase Betting Tips

There's going to be a fascinating encounter at Wetherby on Boxing Day, with the runners and riders battling it out over three miles in the David Killahena & Graeme McPherson. Konfusion heads the eleven-runner field, with the horse obliging over a similar distance at Newcastle. It was a convincing fifteen-length success at the end of November.

A week earlier at Haydock, the horse had unseated his rider in the Betfair Exchange Handicap, with the horse previously winning at Wetherby. That November victory indicates that the runner can perform at this track and over a long distance. A four-length success over three miles clearly outlines why the horse is the one to beat.

Marble Sands was able to win over a monster distance at Cheltenham Racecourse last time out. The nine-year-old obliged over three miles, three and a half furlongs, with that coming on soft ground conditions. There had previously been a smart showing at Goodwood although it's clear that the runner will benefit from a long distance encounter.

Butch, Jungle Boogie and Our Power are all operating at a similar price, with the former finishing dead last at Haydock Park last time out. Jungle Boogie runs for Venetia Williams and hasn't been seen at a track since being pulled up in the Ryanair Chase. However, there was previously a successful venture in the Howden Graduation Chase at Ascot.

2024 Rowland Meyrick Chase Tips

There are two seven-year-olds heading the betting for the Rowland Meyrick Handicap Chase at Wetherby on Boxing Day, with Cruz Control the favourite to win an encounter over three miles. It’s been a tricky start to the season for a horse who opened with a fourth-placed finish out of twelve runners at Punchestown back in April.

The horse also fell short when finishing seventh out of nine runners at Aintree at the end of October, although the runner has previously been successful at the Merseyside course back in April and there was also a success at Newcastle in March. Some might feel that there are bigger-priced alternatives worth backing instead.

Tahmuras runs for Paul Nicholls and it was an underwhelming performance at Haydock when finishing fifth out of six runners, with the horse finishing well off the pace in the Betfair Exchange Graduation Chase. Last Boxing Day, there was an impressive win at Aintree and perhaps another festive success could be on the cards.

Fontaines Collonges runs for Venetia Williams and was in the winners’ enclosure in his previous encounter, with the nine-year-old scoring at Haydock Park back in November. It was an impressive twelve-length success over three miles, one and a half furlong. A repeat of that performance could be enough to land the spoils and he looks a good each-way wager.
