Al Quoz Sprint Betting Odds
There's lots of excitement building around the Al Quoz Sprint which is a high-profile Grade 1 encounter taking place at Meydan Racecourse on Saturday 28 March. Lazzat is regarded as the strong contender and the horse has run impressively at Ascot and Riyadh recently, although successive runner-up spots might suggest an alternative could pip him to the post.
Lugal could be a good each-way bet to nothing, with the Japanese raider having fared well at Nakayama and Hanshin. Reef Runner is another prime contender for this race over six furlongs, with Cover Up and Khaadem trading at a slightly bigger price. Watch out for the market movements to see where the money might be going.
2026 Al Quoz Sprint Betting Tips
The 2026 Al Quoz Sprint looks to be a classic renewal of the Meydan race, with Lazzat holding steady in the market. The horse was seen winning the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes back in June when obliging at the Royal Ascot meeting. The runner was then underwhelming in the Betfair Sprint Cup Stakes at Haydock when finishing fifth as the even money favourite.
However, the horse returned to Ascot on Champions Day and finished runner-up in the British Champions Sprint Stakes, with the horse then running well at Riyadh when finishing second in the 1351 Turf Sprint. The Reynier-trained runner has plenty of class although a fairly low win rate means that punters might want to look elsewhere for value.
Lugal can't be easily dismissed and has collated three excellent performances including a success at Hanshin at the end of December. The horse scored in the Hanshin Cup over seven furlongs and that came after a second placed finish in the Keihan Hai in Tokyo. More recently, there was a third placed effort in the Ocean Stakes and he lines up as a big contender in Meydan.
Reef Runner could be the value wager. Back in December, there was a flashy effort at Gulfstream Park where the horse was able to score in the Janus Stakes. That was over five furlongs before the runner was able to beat Lazzat in Riyadh. Perhaps the David Fawkes-trained horse can repeat this feat and claim the big prize on this occasion.
2024 Al Quoz Sprint Tips
The Al Quoz Sprint is a Group One encounter that takes place at Meydan Racecourse, with this race having been in operation since 2007. This Dubai World Cup race takes place over 1,200 metres and it will be interesting to see which horse follows in the footsteps of Extravagant Kid, A Case Of You and Danyah.
Star Of Mystery hasn’t been out of the first two in his past three races at Meydan, with the horse claiming a victory at Meydan in January, with twelve other runners beaten and it was a case of history repeating two weeks later. The win in the Al Wasl Stakes was followed by a success in the Blue Point Sprint Stakes.
Regional runs for Edward Bethell and the six-year-old has an impressive record when it comes to UK form, with the horse having beaten fifteen other rivals in September when winning the Betfair Sprint Cup Stakes. This was an impressive showing over six furlongs, with the horse previously finishing fifth in the Nunthorpe Stakes at York.
California Spangle has to be respected based on the form we’ve seen from the charge at Sha Tin, with a victory being landed in Hong Kong in March. On that occasion, the horse was able to oblige by a length when beating Galaxy Patch and Red Lion. The runner previously finished fourth out of eight runners in the Stewards’ Cup.
2023 Al Quoz Sprint Tips
Al Dasim looks like a worthy favourite to win the Al Quoz Sprint although the big question is whether this talented horse can be the first ever three-year-old winner of this showdown. There will be plenty of backers when it comes to this runner landing the spoils at Meydan Racecourse and there have been a string of impressive performances leading up to this race.
Most recently, the runner obliged in the Nad Al Sheba Turf Sprint over six furlongs at Meydan Racecourse, with that two length victory making a big statement. That came after Al Dasim obliged as the odds-on favourite when winning the Dubai Trophy, with the runner also able to win the Al Wasl Stakes on 13 January.
However, Al Suhail is trading as the second favourite to win this encounter and there is plenty to recommend a horse who has secured several victories over the years. The fact that the six-year-old has more experience than the race favourite means that it could end up being a telling factor and the Godolphin horse has won back to back races.
Both of these victories came at Meydan, with Al Suhail landing a four length victory when winning the Ras Al Khor and that came over seven furlongs. This will be a stiffer trip for a runner who really announced himself in the Al Fahidi Fort over seven furlongs on 6 January, with that being a four length victory and this could be the best value bet in the race.
