Savills Chase Betting Odds

We’ve got some Cheltenham Gold Cup contenders lining up at Leopardstown and the front two in the betting are a good deal shorter than anything else in the race. Fact To File has claimed four successive wins and Willie Mullins trains a seven-year-old has scope to improve although he has a strong contender standing in his way this time.

Galopin Des Champs has been a winner of the biggest race in National Hunt racing, with the eight-year-old third on his seasonal debut although perhaps he’ll come on for the run and will have his backers. Gerri Colombe is an eight-year-old which is available at a backable each-way price and Spillane’s Tower could also go well.

2024 Savills Chase Tips

Fact To File has been passing every assignment recently, with the seven-year-old lately able to score a victory at Punchestown when beating Spillane’s Tower by half a length. Sent off at 7/2, the horse was able to oblige over two miles, three and a half furlongs, with the runner previously able to score a success at the Cheltenham Festival.

Sent off at 8/13, the runner was able to score in the Brown Advisory Novices' Chase and it has now been four wins on the bounce. However, there’s a big opponent standing in his way for this clash, with Galopin Des Champs having the potential to produce the goods on the big stage as has been demonstrated in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

The eight-year-old was third last time out when finishing nearly three lengths behind Fact To File at Punchestown, although we’re talking about a horse that has secured consecutive Gold Cup successes, with the eight-year-old possibly being primed for a hat-trick next March and that might explain why he’s not favourite here.

Gerri Colombe runs for Gordon Elliott and the eight-year-old was last seen running at Down Royal when finishing well behind Envoi Allen, although the horse might have needed the outing. There was also a success at Aintree in April where the runner was able to claim a half length win and there’s definitely a chance of another victory here.

2023 Savills Chase Tips

Galopin Des Champs might have won the Cheltenham Gold Cup in impressive fashion, although the seven-year-old could be beaten by one of the several high quality performers in the field. The horse runs for Willie Mullins and finished third out of six runners to Fastorslow at Punchestown at the end of November.

The latter will be aiming to claim another victory over his rival, with Martin Brassil having now seen his horse record back to back wins. The latest success was a 9/1 victory in the John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase, with Appreciate It beaten by half a length. The horse previously won the Punchestown Gold Cup, beating strong favourite Galopin Des Champs.

Gentlemansgame is another seven-year-old with solid claims, with Mouse Morris saddling a horse who won at Wetherby at the beginning of November. Although he only beat three other runners, one of them was Bravemansgame, with Midnight River and Ahoy Senor also in the same encounter.

Gerri Colombe is possibly the each-way value and there have been several notable wins for the Gordon Elliott-trained runner, with the latest of these coming at Down Royal where Envoi Allen was beaten by a neck. In the Ladbrokes Champion Chase over three miles, Jack Kennedy was able to ride the horse to victory over three miles on soft ground.

2022 Savills Chase Tips

A Plus Tard returned to the race track in November, with the eight-year-old sent off as the 1/2 favourite in the Betfair Chase. However, the 2022 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner was pulled up at Haydock Racecourse, with trainer Henry de Bromhead hoping that this was simply an anomaly although the horse has something to prove next time out.

Naturally, A Plus Tard can’t be knocked considering that the horse was so visually impressive at the Cheltenham Festival in March, with the runner landing a fifteen-length victory over his rivals. The horse was sent off as the 8/11 favourite to win the 2021 Savills Chase although Galvin was able to pip the runner at the post.

Perhaps we’ll see Galvin line up and aim to protect his crown, with the Gordon Elliott-trained runner having run four times in the past twelve months and the sole victory came at Punchestown when winning a Grade 3 encounter over three miles although this will be a sterner test.

Conflated finished third in the Ladbrokes Champion Chase when finishing behind Envoi Allen and Kemboy. Notably, the horse was ahead of Galvin on that occasion, although the horse was also second to Clan Des Obeaux. Then we have the prospect of Stattler lining up and the horse has secured three consecutive wins, with the horse not having an outing since the National Hunt Challenge Cup in March.

Bet on 2020 Savills Steeplechase

This is a horse race which has been in operation since 1986, with Beef Or Salmon the most prolific winner after triumphing on three different occasions, while Michael Hourigan is the most successful trainer after saddling the above horse along with other winners Deep Bramble and Dorans Pride.

Minella Indo Favourite to Win 2020 Savills Chase

Minella Indo is a tough nut to crack and trainer Henry de Bromhead will be feeling confident that his horse can go close when lining up in this race, with the seven-year-old having finished second in the RSA Insurance Novices’ Chase at the 2020 Cheltenham Festival before scoring a couple of victories this season.

There was a victory at Wexford before a facile triumph at Navan, although this will be a tougher assignment for a horse who could end up being a genuine Gold Cup contender providing that all goes well here.

However, Champ was the winning horse when it came to the RSA Chase and perhaps the Nicky Henderson-trained charge is going to be the one to beat, with the eight-year-old having not been seen at a racecourse since winning at the Cheltenham Festival on 11 March 2020.

Who Are the Other Big Contenders for Savills Chase?

There are lots of other horses that could be in line to compete in this race, with trainer Gordon Elliott likely to have several darts and perhaps this will include Presenting Percy who has had an interesting career to date.

The nine-year-old was an impressive winner at Thurles when touching off Kemboy by several lengths on 19 November which suggests the horse is in good nick, with the horse looking to build back up again after falling in the 2020 Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Delta Work will run for the Gigginstown yard and finished fifth in the Cheltenham Gold Cup back in March although the horse finished in the same position in the Ladbrokes Champion Chase and further improvement will be needed.

Willie Mullins is also likely to be mob-handed for the Savills Chase, with Kemboy probably the best chance for the Irish trainer and the horse has plenty to prove after finishing well down the field in the Gold Cup.
