Premier Chase Betting Odds

We're excited to see a high-class encounter at Kelso Racecourse on Saturday. The bet365 Premier Chase is scheduled to take place on good to soft ground, with three horses operating at far shorter odds than the rest of the field. Protektorat was successful last time out and the Dan Skelton-trained charge could be difficult to beat.

However, the horse is now eleven and perhaps Iroko can come through and land a victory. The JP McManus-owned runner has landed a success and a runner-up spot this term, with Matata another eight-year-old with solid credentials. We're expecting these three runners to be too strong for the other big priced horses in the field.

2026 bet365 Premier Chase Betting Tips

The bet365 Premier Chase takes place at Kelso Racecourse on Saturday, with the runners and riders competing over two miles, seven and a half furlongs. Dan Skelton trains Protektorat and the horse has the most solid credentials, with a victory at Windsor coming in mid-January, with that coming over two miles and six furlongs on soft ground.

Previously to this, there was a third-placed finish at Cheltenham Racecourse in a handicap chase, with the horse also running an excellent race at Aintree back in April. The runner was able to finish just a few lengths behind Jonbon in the Melling Chase over two miles and four furlongs, with stamina not likely to be an issue for this hardy competitor.

Iroko has got solid credentials to land a victory. The horse returns to the track after a December win at Ascot against two other runners. On that occasion, the 2/1 shot beat Firefox by nearly three lengths and that came over two miles and five furlongs. That came after a second-placed effort in the Betfair Exchange Graduation Chase when running home behind The Jukebox Man.

Matata is the other horse who is worthy of consideration. Nigel & Willy Twiston-Davies saddle a horse who did secure a win at Cheltenham on New Year's Day. That was over two miles, four and a half furlongs, with the runner aiming to bounce back from finishing last in that Windsor encounter in the Fleur de Lys Chase.

2025 Premier Chase Tips

Grey Dawning was pulled up in the King George VI Chase after clattering the first fence at Kempton Park, although the Dan Skelton-trained charge is likely to bounce back in the Premier Chase at Kelso over two miles, seven and a half furlongs. The horse ran pretty well when sent off as the 15/8 favourite in the Betfair Chase despite finishing second.

The horse was successful in the Turners Novices’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival last year, with that coming over two miles and four furlongs, while the horse underwhelmed somewhat at Aintree when finishing third as the 11/10 favourite in the Close Brothers Manifesto Novices’ Chase.

Iroko also has definite claims, with the seven-year-old finishing fourth in a previous showing when performing reasonably well at Cheltenham in a January encounter over two miles, four and a half furlongs. There was previously a fall at Ascot, with a solid runner-up performance in the Betfair Exchange Graduation Chase at Haydock.

Iroko finished fourteen and a half lengths behind Grey Dawning at Cheltenham last March, although the margin is likely to be closer here. El Elefante was successful in his previous two encounters, with Lucinda Russell’s charge available at a decent price. Quick Wave hasn’t always been consistent although he’s available at a similar price.
