Graduation Chase Betting Odds

There are lots of lively chances when it comes to the Betfair Exchange Graduation Chase, with the runners and riders competing over two miles, five and a half furlongs. There’s sure to be plenty of cut in the ground at Haydock Park, with The Jukebox Man having won his last two encounters and he could be ready to claim another victory.

Jango Baie is certain to have a chance for Nicky Henderson if he lines up here, with Gidleigh Park having run well at Aintree last time out. Iroko wasn’t in the winners’ enclosure in the previous four showings, although we know that this horse has a strong calibre and perhaps the seven-year-old can come through to land the spoils here.

The Jukebox Man could be ready to bring a merry tune to Haydock Park on Saturday. It’s the fourth race of Betfair Chase day, with Ben Pauling training a seven-year-old who won at Kempton last Boxing Day. The 4/6 favourite was able to oblige in the Kauto Star Novices’ Chase at Kempton Park over three miles.

That was preceded by a Newbury success in November 2024, with this coming in the John Francome Novices’ Chase, although Jango Baie is not an easy contender to ignore either. Nicky Henderson’s charge produced a strong effort at Aintree last April and that came after a Cheltenham Festival success in the Arkle Chase.

If Gidleigh Park lines up at Haydock, then the Harry Fry-trained charge has to stand a chance. Bryan Carver is on board a horse who won at Windsor back in January, with the April effort at Aintree suggesting that the runner could have a successful season. However, some might instead prefer the chances of Iroko.

Oliver Greenall & Josh Guerriero train a runner who finished fourth in the Grand National in April. There’s certainly no question of whether the horse can stay the pace after that effort at Aintree, so lots of soft ground would benefit this charge. The runner was only half a length from winning this exact race last time out and could go well again.

Iroko is the youngest horse in this race and he’s also the favourite to win the Betfair Exchange Graduation Chase. The six-year-old could be about to reach the peak of his powers, with the horse finishing second out of six runners at Aintree in April and that performance came in the Grade 1 Mildmay Novices’ Chase.

Previously to that, there was a solid effort to finish fifth in the Turners Novices’ Chase, with the horse having obliged at Warwick around a year ago. Trelawne is a talented eight-year-old who was a faller at the end of last season, with the Kim Bailey-trained runner having previously produced some eye-catching displays.

The fall came early in the Ultima Handicap Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, with that coming after finishing third out of three runners at Exeter. However, there had previously been a strong showing at Wetherby when running favourite Colonel Harry close and that came after a solid effort at Cheltenham.

Tahmuras runs for Paul Nicholls who could be a decent each-way selection and the seven-year-old wasn’t out of the first two in his previous three races. This includes a runner-up position at Kempton Park in the Coral Pendil Novices’ Chase and that was after an excellent showing at Aintree over two miles and four furlongs.

2023 Graduation Chase Tips

Five of the seven runners lining up in the Betfair Exchange Graduation Chase are trading at single figure betting odds, with the majority of the field in with a chance of securing a victory over two miles, five and a half furlongs. Grey Dawning is the runner who apparently boast the strongest credentials, with the six-year-old having enjoyed a string of wins last season.

The horse recently put on a decent showing at Exeter Racecourse when finishing third in the Silver Bowl Novices Chase over three miles, with the runner having collected wins at Warwick, Kempton Park and Exeter last season. However, there could be a stiff competitor in the form of Gaillard du Mesnil who has strong credentials.

The seven-year-old was last seen finishing third in the Aintree Grand National and that came after a victory at the Cheltenham Festival. It was an impressive showing in the National Hunt Challenge Cup when obliging as the 10/11 favourite. You would have to argue that the Willie Mullins-trained runner is a better bet than the market leader.

Cheddleton and Scipion come next in the betting market, with the former recently finishing fourth in a nine-runner race at Carlisle, with Scipion a year younger and certainly capable based on recent showings. There was a fourth-placed finish at Perth which came after some bright performances last term, with Apple Away next in the betting market.
