The John Mulhern Galmoy Hurdle takes pride of place on the Gowran Park racecard, with Thedevilscoachman running for trainer Noel Meade and there’s plenty to recommend the eight-year-old. However, Monkfish makes a seasonal debut and could produce the goods over this distance, with the ten-year-old running for Willie Mullins.

Farouk D’alene appears to be coming into some form and the nine-year-old definitely has claims based on previous appearances, while Ashdale Bob also has solid credentials. Summerville Boy and Beacon Edge are other runners in contention, with the latest betting odds now available for this Grade 2 race in Ireland.

2024 Galmoy Hurdle Tips

Thedevilscoachman is likely to go off favourite when it comes to the John Mulhern Galmoy Hurdle, with the eight-year-old having finished second last time out. This was on New Year’s Eve at Punchestown when trailing Sir Gerhard over two miles and four furlongs, with the same horse previously finishing seventh out of a field of twenty at Navan.

Monkfish has achieved a huge amount during his career, with the Willie Mullins-trained runner having been disappointing when finishing dead last at Punchestown in the Ladbrokes Champion Stayers Hurdle. Previously to this, there was a runner-up performance in the Rathbarry & Glenview Studs Hurdle by half a length.

Farouk D’alene is a nine-year-old who runs in the Gigginstown colours, with the Gordon Elliott-trained runner looking to land a first victory in five races. After a long absence away from the track, the runner fell at Navan and underwhelmed at Thurles before an improved performance at Leopardstown which saw the horse finish second in the Pertemps Handicap Hurdle.

Ashdale Bob was third behind Sir Gerhard and Thedevilscoachman on New Year’s Eve, with the horse having now gone a long time without a victory. You have to back to April 2021 to find the last time that the runner claimed a win, with Jessie Harrington’s horse overlooked in favour of Summerville Boy at a bigger each-way price.
