Prix de Diane Betting Odds

We’re counting down to the 2023 Prix de Diane taking place on Sunday 18 June, with the betting market wide open for this showdown although Blue Rose Cen could be the one to beat. Running Lion also has solid credentials ahead of this encounter, with Pensee Du Jour also being respected by the French horse racing betting sites.

Tahiyra and Jannah Rose are lining up with a lively chance of scoring a success at Chantilly, although the Christoper Head-trained Blue Rose Cen will be bidding to score a fifth successive victory and the past four of them have come at Longchamp, with the horse returning to Chantilly for the first time in over a year.

2023 Prix De Diane Tips

Blue Rose Cen runs for Christopher Head, with the three-year-old having swept all before her up to date. The horse was recently successful in the Emirates Poule d'Essai des Pouliches over one mile on soft ground, with this victory coming on 14 May. Sent off at odds of 3/5, the favourite was able to triumph by nearly two miles.

Previously, in the Prix de la Grotte, the horse was able to perform well on heavy ground and fend off Lindy into the runner-up on a second successive occasion, while the horse was able to score a win in the Qatar Prix Marcel Boussac - Criterium des Pouliches over one mile on very soft ground and that was a five furlong success.

There could be an English raider who is able to prosper, with John & Thady Gosden training Running Lion who has also achieved four successive victories. In the Howden Pretty Polly Stakes at Newmarket in early May, she was able to land the spoils over four and a half lengths. That was a soft ground victory.

The horse was previously able to score a success at Kempton on the all-weather, with Pensee Du Jour having boasted a 100% unbeaten record. In the Prix Penelope at Saint Cloud, we saw the filly score a success by two and a half lengths, with the horse previously landing the spoils in the Prix Rose de Mai and that was on testing ground.

2021 Prix de Diane Betting Tips

The 2021 Prix de Diane will take place on Sunday 20 June, with many leading contenders from the United Kingdom and France competing in this encounter which is run over one mile and two-and-a-half furlongs.

Fancy Blue was the winner of the 2020 Prix de Diane, beating Alpine Star and Peaceful into second and third, with jockey Pierre-Charles Boudot having ridden home the winner of the past two renewals and it could be worth looking to see which horse he is riding next time around.

Philomene Favourite to Win Prix de Diane

Philomene is trained by Andre Fabre and broke on to the scene when winning the Prix de la Cascade, with this victory occurring in September 2020 and there was then a success in the Prix Penelope which is a Group 3 encounter at Saint-Cloud.

The Emirates Poule d'Essai des Pouliches saw Philomene a little out of sorts to only finish sixth out of thirteen horses, although it hasn’t stopped the bookies from expecting more from a horse who will be ridden by Mickael Barzalona.

Burgarita and Mother Earth Among Prix de Diane Favourites

Andre Fabre is predictably mob-handed for the Prix de Diane, with the legendary French trainer having an interesting runner in the form of Burgarita, with the three-year-old scoring in the Prix de Chaillot maiden race and this was followed up by a success in Prix de la Seine which was a listed race.

More improvement is needed in this race although horse racing betting odds of 7/1 imply that the horse has a chance and some bookies go as short as 9/2 about this runner, while Mother Earth looks to be another lively contender.

Mother Earth runs for Aidan O’Brien and the Irish handler is no stranger to success when it comes to these sort of French horse races, with the horse finishing second in the Group 1 Emirates Poule d'Essai des Pouliches where he was narrowly beaten by Couersamba.

Previously to this, the filly won the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket Racecourse when obliging at horse racing odds of 10/1 and there’s a decent chance that the horse can go close in this one.

Raabihah is the current favourite for a race which is run over a distance of 2,100 metres and this horse first made an appearance at Cagnes-Sur-Mer in January where she won a Maiden race when obliging as the 8/5 favourite.

A recent victory behind closed doors at Longchamp in a Listed Race illustrated her credentials further, with that effort being over one mile and three furlongs which suggests this runner might take all the beating.

"The Prix de Diane will ultimately be the aim but I will definitely run her again in between in a race like the Prix Cleopatre or the Saint-Alary," said trainer Jean-Claude Rouget after the latest success. "She was broken in Dubai and only came to me at the end of March last year, so I gave her plenty of time.

"But there is never any need to panic as the meeting at Cagnes offers opportunities. She is a classy filly and she showed it today. She was able to get a lead and I was pleased she didn't pull at all after the start."

However, the field is certain to be competitive and Simeen also boasts back-to-back victories and a similar career trajectory to date, with the horse scoring a debut win at Saint-Cloud last summer before obliging in the Prix de la Pistole at Chantilly.

Perhaps it will be an advantage to have already run well at this course, with Magic Attitude next in the betting and she was cut for the Prix de Diane after a trial win which has put her third favourite in the betting market.

The History of the Prix de Diane

The Prix de Diane is one of the most illustrious Group 1 races in French horse racing, with Chantilly Racecourse hosting a race which has been in place since 1843 and it attracts some very talented thoroughbred horses.

Run over 2,100 metres, it’s a stiff test of stamina for the three-year-old fillies that line up, with the Prix de Diane having been a Group 1 encounter since 1971. Six winners of this race have consequently managed to win the Arc de Triomphe in the same year, with Treve the latest of these in 2013.
