Caulfield Cup Betting Odds

Half Yours has emerged as the horse to beat in the Caulfield Cup, with the bookies installing the talented horse as the strong favourite to secure a victory. Meydaan could be the one to consider from an each-way point-of-view, with Buckaroo and Royal Supremacy also prime contenders to win a popular Australian heat where big money is on the table.

Vauban, Land Legend and Middle Earth are other contenders who boast strong form, with the runners and riders competing over 1.5 miles at Caulfield Racecourse. It’s one of the biggest money encounters, with the winner getting ballot exemption from the Melbourne Cup which is a big attraction for the entries.

2025 Caulfield Cup Betting Tips

There’s been a solid enough display or two from Half Yours to make the bookies install the horse as favourite to win this encounter. Last time out, the horse ran favourably at Flemington when finishing fourth out of fourteen runners. The runner was less than three lengths off the pace, with that coming after a success at Caulfield.

The fact that the horse has already won at this track this season justifies why the runner is the market leader, with the 8/5 favourite able to score in the Naturalism Stakes. That was a three and a half length success over one mile and two furlongs. Meydaan could be a great alternative to consider from an each-way point-of-view.

The Irish raider has produced some smart efforts this term and has to be considered, although an improvement is needed on the last showing. There was a third-placed performance on the all-weather at Kempton Park, with the horse having previously landed second out of five at Goodwood Racecourse.

Then we have Land Legend, with the horse struggling to make an impact as a 100/1 shot at Flemington last time out. That came after a fifth-placed finish at Caulfield in the Underwood Stakes, with Buckaroo having finished second in the same race. The latter has now run at Caulfield three times this term and could be ready to strike again.

2024 Caulfield Cup Tips

Buckaroo is entered for the Melbourne Cup and he could warm up with a victory in the Caulfield Cup, with the horse last running at Flemington where he finished second out of sixteen runners. Sent off at 11/2 in the TAB Turnbull Stakes, the charge was beaten by a head after previously winning the Underwood Stakes at Caulfield.

Eliyass finished third in the TAB Turnbull Stakes and is definitely worthy of consideration, with that coming after a succession of wins at Randwick. The most recent of these was in the Kingston Town Stakes, with that narrow success coming after a Group 3 win in the Premier’s Cup which suggests the horse can go close here.

Land Legend is trained by Chris Waller and there was an impressive win in a big field at Randwick in early October. In the James Squire Metropolitan, the horse was successful over one mile and four furlongs, with the horse previously finishing sixth out of sixteen runners over one mile and two furlongs.

Zardozi has run four times at Randwick this season, with none of these outings resulting in a victory. However, there was little to separate Land Legend, with trainer James Cummings hoping that his runner can go one better although it has been six outings since the horse was last victorious and perhaps there are better alternatives.

2023 Caulfield Cup Tips

Without A Fight was last seen running at Caulfield Racecourse in the Underwood Stakes on 23 September. The horse was able to finish sixth on that occasion, with the Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained charge unable to get the better of winner Alligator Blood although it was still an impressive enough showing to make the runner of the favourites for this one.

Soulcombe was also in this race and finished higher up the placings in fourth spot, with Chris Waller training a runner narrowly ahead of the former. More recently, there was another solid showing when the four-year-old scored third place behind Gold Trip and West Wind Blows in the TAB Turnbull Stakes at Flemington Racecourse.

West Wind Blows is trained by Simon & Ed Crisford, with the English raider remaining in Australia after that runner-up performance. There was previously a second-placed finish at Windsor, with the horse unable to oblige as the 10/11 favourite in the Winter Hill Stakes and perhaps the charge can be overlooked.

Gold Trip was the 18/1 winner of the Turnbull Stakes and there was plenty to like about a win for the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained runner over one mile and two furlongs. This came after a fourth-placed finish at Moonee Valley although this could be the best each-way selection in the field based on that previous achievement.

2022 Caulfield Cup Tips

Edward Cummings could have a potential superstar in the form of Duais when the five-year-old lines up in the 2022 Caulfield Cup, with the runner having lined up in the Group One Fujitsu General George Main Stakes and acquitting himself well. Although the runner was sixth out of nine horses, this was a stiff test against top-class runners.

The horse was previously entered in another hot race in the form of the Magic Millions Memsie Stakes and the 25/1 shot put together a competent performance, although some punters might prefer the chances of Inspirational Girl and the New Zealand raider has plenty to recommend her.

The seven-year-old was last season running at the beginning of September when racing at Moonee Valley, with the 5/1 shot finishing second to hot favourite Mr Brightside, with the same runner finishing second in the TAB Blamey Stakes at Flemington Racecourse on 5 March 2022.

Montefilia’s last victory came at Rosehill Racecourse, with the four-year-old able to secure a win in the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes, with David Payne having seen his charge put together some strong performances. The latest outing saw Montefilia finish ahead of Duais in that tricky encounter at Randwick and perhaps is the each-way value.

The History of the Caulfield Cup

This was a Principal Race in Australia until 1979 when it achieved Group 1 status. There have been several horses that have achieved a double success during the history of the Caulfield Cup, with Paris (1892, 1894), Hymettus (1898, 1901), Poseidon (1906-07), Uncle Sam (1912, 1914), Whittier (1922, 1925), Rising Fast (1954-1955) and Ming Dynasty (1977, 1980) having all landed wins.

Newminster was the first ever Caulfield Cup winner, with Tom Kirk and Blue Ribbon the other early winners, with the race having achieved a higher profile in recent decades. In 2020, we saw Verry Elleegant land a win in a Stella Artois-sponsored encounter, with Boom Time, Best Solution and Mer De Glace having scored victories.

Incentivise Heads 2021 Caulfield Cup Betting

Incentivise is a highly talented four-year-old who could be the horse that ends up being the market leader for a race which takes place on 16 October, with the horse having made his debut on 26 June 2021, with this runner having an outing at Eagle Farm where the horse was sent off as the 2/5 favourite.

Naturally, there’s not a huge amount of form to feed off for races such as this one, with the six-year-old being trained by the famous Hawkes’ and there has been a lot to like about some recent outings, with the charge being sent off as 13/10 favourite in the Neds Mornington Cup.

This victory occurred on 21 March 2021, with the horse previously being seen in June 2020 when Tommy Berry rode the runner to a victory at 8/5, with the runner seemingly showing an improvement with age like a fine wine.

Will Verry Elleegant Score a Famous Caulfield Cup Double?

A select number of horses have scored a double in the Caulfield Cup and perhaps Verry Elleegant will become the latest runner to achieve this, with Chris Weller’s horse having already secured the Chipping Norton Stakes and Ranvet Stakes in 2021, with the earnings level getting close to A$8,000,000 and this would be a famous victory.

The mare is now an eight-time Group 1 winner, with this being New Zealand bred and the charge has been trained throughout her career in Australia. Trainer Waller described her as world class and it will be interesting to see if this horse can line up and win again.

We’re counting down to the Caulfield Cup which is scheduled to take place on 19 October and will feature some of the best racehorses in Australia.

The Caulfield Cup is a Melbourne Racing Club Group 1 Thoroughbred horse race held under handicap conditions and it was first run in 1879, with the race open to horses aged three years old or over.

The race takes place at Caulfield Racecourse, with the prize money being $5,000,000 and it’s open to a maximum of eighteen starters, with only the best performing horses able to get into the race.

Finche Currently Favourite for Caulfield Cup

Finche was originally a British horse who has Frankel as his sire, although the runner is now based in Australia and is currently trading as the 13/2 favourite to win this particular race.

The five-year-old has run three times this season, finishing fifth in a Group 2 race at Randwick which was considered to be a prep run, while the horse then returned to the same track and won a Group 3 encounter.

However, the most impressive showing of all came in the Group 1 TAB Turnbull Stakes where Finche finished second over one mile and two furlongs, with the horse now expected to run a big race at Caulfield.

Mer De Glace is another horse trading at single figure odds, with the horse currently holding a Melbourne Cup entry although this Caulfield Cup route could well be on the cards.

This four-year-old is a Japanese raider who has done all his running in that particular country, with the horse most recently seen winning a Grade 3 handicap at Kokura.

Mr Quickie is available at odds of 10/1, with Constantinople and Mustajeer the other horses trading among the favourites for this race.
