The Arc traditionally takes place around early October and the racecard always illustrates that this is a high-class encounter where several serial Group 1 winners line up in the hope of making history at this famous track.

The Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe is run over 1.5 miles, with this race having been in operation since 1920 and it’s been at home at Longchamp for the vast majority of the time, with any horse from the age of three or older being eligible to compete in this encounter.

The Arc De Triomphe Meeting Packed With Other Big Races

The Arc meeting takes place over a complete weekend at Longchamp, with a Saturday racecard followed by a Sunday racecard which actually features the Arc. The Saturday of the Arc meeting will feature many betting tips and a particular focus on the Prix de Royallieu and the Prix du Cadran which are both Group 1 races.

The Prix de Royallieu is a one-mile and six-furlong staying encounter for fillies and mares, while the latter is a real test of staying considering the distance is two miles and four furlongs. It’s a race where the likes of Stradivarius have prospered in recent times.

The Sunday racecard at the Arc meeting also features some notable races aside from the showcase heat and you can bet on the Prix de l’Opera, Prix de l’Abbaye and Prix de la Foret among others. The Prix de l’Opera is a fillies race which is run over ten furlongs, while the Prix de l’Abbaye is an exciting sprint race and the Prix de la Foret is the only seven furlong race for older horses in Europe.
